I'm still enjoying this thread! It's loaded with great information!

I'd like to spend a couple of afternoons relaxing at the pool. Shade is an absolute must for me, and by looking at the photos it doesn't seem like there's any shade in the pool area other than maybe a few umbrellas, which do not give much shade.

Is there a place you can sit in the shade mid-afternoon while keeping an eye on the kids in the pool? I don't have to be right on top of my kids (they're 12 and 14--good swimmers) but do want to stay within general eyeshot while sitting in the shade if that's possible.

Is Siestas shady? If it is, can you basically see most of the pool from there?

TIA!

Yeah if you sat at the bar at Siestas you would be in the shade. I think maybe you might find some at the kiddie pool area as it is surounded by trees. But yes not much shade. Same thing at the Ranchos quiet pool.

Very excited about our upcoming Disney trip! It's our second trip with our girls 20 mos and 4.5 yrs. Last time, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside but wanted to try CSR this time.

I'm wondering which room request would be best for us: we'd like to be close to Dig Site and playground without it being too noisy or bright at night. We don't eat at the resort much so proximity to El Centro or Pepper Market isn't a big issue for us. We drive to the parks daily so bus location isn't too important either.

I've looked at Cabanas 8B, 8A, 9A with Ranchos 7B lastly as possibilities.
What are your suggestions??? Thanks!!

I think Cabanas 8A or 8B would be perfect. No room is that close to the Dig Site pool that you'll have a problem with noise or bright lights. We were in Cabanas 9A in September and it was a pleasant walk to the main pool.

Hey everybody. I posted a few weeks back - didn't know if we would be able to go on our cruise last week and if not we were looking at doing Disney in August. Well, we did end up going on the cruise, so no Disney in August.

But, Now I am planning our vacation for next spring break (Mid March) and of course it will be Disney (we go every other year). So, I am trying to decide where to stay. I am really liking the look of CSR. I have not stayed in a Moderate before. When the kids were really little we stayed at all the different Value Hotels. The last 2 times we rented points and stayed at BWV and AKV. Loved them both. The kids will be 9 and 12 next trip. The lady I rented points from says she does have points to rent me for next trip if we choose to go that way ($10 per point). So, here is the breakdown and looking for any info (or help...)

We would probably stay 8 nights. Probably a Friday to a Saturday - March 11thru March 19th. So, it would be peak season.

AKV Std View (which is pool view) - $1340
BLT Std View (Never stayed on Monorail B4) - $1610
Boardwalk Std View - $1270 or Preferred View - $1530
These all include tax.

CSR - Std View - $1630
CSR - Water View - $1845
These do not include tax.

So, the dilemma begins. The lady I rent from owns at BWV and Wilderness Lodge. So, I can book BWV at 11 months out. If I wanted AKV or BLT then I would have to wait until 7 months out and see what she can get. May be a long shot to get BLT as it is pretty popular. These do come out cheaper than CSR.

But, in the past Disney has had different promotions going on
during that time frame but these most likely would not be offered until Fall. So, do I wait and see what is offered then make my decision because if I do rent points then I cannot cancel (well, I probably could but would not do that to her - she is very nice).

Does anyone know typically what discounts have been offered in the past during this time frame? I think we would do the dining plan also.

I'm just stuck on this one. I know I can't go wrong with any of them. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lynn

There may be discounts offered. Some mucky muck VIP with Disney has announced there will be fewer discounts and people who wanted Free Dining are freaking out because it looks like that won't happen, so you might be taking a chance.
If you decide NOT to go with a villa, then I recommend CSR as it is the only mod for us. We're DVC members and our home resort is BWV. Most of the time, we stay either there or at a deluxe but once a year or so, my daughter requests CSR. It's truly beautiful.

CSR is the only Mod I am looking at. The pictures look gorgeous. I think I would really like the pool area and pepper market area. They also have a few different locations to refill the mugs. Just not sure if it would be worth it though to spend more than what a DVC resort would cost.

August would be the 7th month mark for the DVC's. Does anyone know typically when discounts come out for March (if they were to offer something?)

I can totally see your dilemma. But let me just put in my CSR plug. It really is beautiful and quiet and the pool is incredible. I had an amazing time on the jaguar slide one afternoon, even though we hit freezin' February down there. :cool1:

Also, I don't know if you use the Disney transportation system or not, but we really felt like CSR was very centrally located, particuarly to EPCOT and Hollywood Studio. CSR also doesn't share their buses with other resorts, so drop off and pick up was quick. I also contend that because CSR is a convention hotel, there are just fewer people using the busses than you might see at other resorts, particularly during the day. And I was there President's Week!

I know its not the same as being at deluxe for many reasons; proximity to parks and/or the monorail being one of them. But even though I dream of the Contemporary, the thought of returning to CSR again and again makes me very happy.

And, hey, sounds like your decision is one I would want to making right about now!

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before on this thread, but I just skimmed back over the past 8 pages or so and didn't find it, so I need help please. We leave in 2 week from today (YAY!!):cool1:, and we're booked for a water view room. I'm really hoping to get in the Cabanas - preferably building 8A. What would be the best way going about to request this, and who should I contact, and when.
Thanks in advance!!

I'll probably get thrown off this thread, but as much as I like CSR, if I could stay at BW for the same price or cheaper I'd do it in a New York minute.:rotfl: I rented points several years ago for a standard studio at BW and when I arrived had a fantastic studio on the top floor just above the art gallery facing the courtyard and boat docks and just two doors down from the elevator. I could see spaceship earth from my balcony. I loved having the boats to Epcot and DS and having all the Boardwalk restaurants so close.

I love CSR, but if it was the same price I'm afraid I'd have to go with BW just for the location. I have no desire to stay at BLT. Now AKL I'd have to think about, as I love both.

Thanks for the advice about the shade at the pool. If I can't find a better spot, I'll sit in Siestas and enjoy a drink or two while the kids swim. I'm hoping to hit the pool during an evening sometime too so I can get in the water and not worry about sun exposure. It looks like a fun pool!

We'll be there at the same time!!

In addition to booking my room request through Disney when I book the vaca, I will also fax in my request about 4-5 days before we leave.
Fax number: (407) 939-1001 (from the first page of this thread).

Just did the online check in! I cannot wait!!!! We arrive in 9 days!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Okay this is probably a really stupid question, but when you fax your request do you include your reservation number? Any other info I should include? Also our reservation is connected to my sister's reservation, do I need to mention this in the fax?

It depends on who you made your reservation through. Did you use a TA? If so, they will have to put the request in. If you made the reservation yourself, call and have it noted oon your reservation form that you would like to request (remember, it is only a request) "Casitas 3" or whatever the case might be.

I have never put on my reservation number. I simply write: "We are looking forward to being at the Coronado on _____________. We would like to request, if possible, to be in Casitas 4 or 5 (or whatever the case might be for you). Thank you so much. Kathy and Mark (and then the last name). Yes, I would mention a lso that your reservation is connected with your sister's.

Hey, I was being honest!:rotfl: I love the location of the Epcot resorts. Then again I love most of the WDW resorts.:rolleyes1

You know I love CSR. Hey, I was there this past Sept/Oct, again this past Dec, will be there again in less than a month (split stay at AKL/CSR), and will be there again in Dec. I have never stayed at the same resort on that many back to back trips before.:snooty: I do still have an almost paranoid fear that I might be stuck out in the Ranchos though.:rotfl::rolleyes1 As far as what you are going to do with me, join me for the Flower Festival May 1st-9th for my split stay at AKL and CSR and we'll discuss it over a margarita. lol

How I wish I could join you!!! I was hoping to join Mark on his trip to Florida for part of it this month (he is going the 18th through the 23rd). We looked at airfare for three days and got it down to $240 and were going to discuss my flights last night. When we went back online it was up to $690!!!! I was going to meet him in Orlando, go to DTD and have dinner at Fulton's, and then go with him to Naples/Ft. Myers and hook up with MickeyNicki. Alas, it did not work out. What are your dates at CSR next month?

That's the thing also. I have never stayed at the same resort twice. We did love both BWV and AKV for different reasons.

I like BWV for all the activities and the closeness to Epcot and DHS. But, the buses were not that great as they stopped at Beach Club and Swan/Dolphin also. And there was no central food court - I do like that. The kids liked the pool but they were also 4 and 7 at the time.

I also liked AKV for the animals. We had a room overlooking the pool and it was great. Rooms were a bit dark but no biggie. I did like the food court and the pool was awesome. Had no problems with the busses at all - they were all great. I think they were the best bus service we ever had.

Never stayed at BLT - but just thought it would be convenient to be on the monorail. The theming isn't as great but the location is awesome and it does have a food court.

CSR pics look awesome. The pool area the kids would love and the busses seem like they would be good. The room wouldn't have a kitchenette in it- which is convenient. It does have a food court and a beach area. Also, there is no guarantee of a code coming out for that time frame, but if we needed to cancel we could where with DVC we couldn't. All though - I don't see that happening but you never know.

Good thing I have some time to decide because I will probably change my mind every other day. My DH isn't much help in deciding and neither are the kids. So, looks like it is up to me. (maybe I should just put the names in a hat and go from there....yeah right!!)

I'll be at AKL May 1st-5th, then at CSR May 5th-9th. Can' wait!:cool1: Sorry to hear your trip for this month didn't work out and also that you can't join me either. You know you'd be welcome.

flights up to $690?! That's nuts!!

Yes, it is! We had it down to $240 -- that was flying into Orlando and out of Ft. Myers or a direct Chicago to Ft. Myers and back. I was so disappointed last night when I saw that it shot back up to $690. I looked again this moring and it is down to $540. I'm going to watch for a day or two, but I can't wait too long because I have to get the time off from work.
