About to do online check in.... I can request an area, correct? That resort is huge! Where do I want to go? I don't need Disney transportation so no need to be close to that. I need to be close to parking, somewhere to refill our drinks, and semi (walking distance) close to a pool and laundry (this would just be for one day). Thanks for all advice!

I would ask to be close to the main building then. It is indeed a large resort. We were in a preferred room and it was still not actually close. Loved the resort! I hope you have fun.

We were in Casitas 2 and it was pretty close but that is a preferred room catagory

I stayed in Cabanas 9B, I think (or 9A, whichever is NOT the preferred location). It was an ok walk to the main building, an ok walk to the main pool area and had a quiet pool there.

- You can make "location" requests but I believe the only sections that come up are Cabanas or Ranchos
- Preferred is a bookable category so you would know
- It's size is not that big, it's the third smallest moderate footprint wise (CBR is largest, then POR)
- There is close parking to rooms in most the resort with Cabanas and Ranchos being the best
- My personal thoughts are that Casitas parking is not as good because I think many convention folks fly in and stay in those rooms closer to convention center.
- Drink refills can happen in the main building or at the main pool quick service counter
- Main pool is located in Ranchos and adjacent to Cabanas
- Quiet pools have laundry next to them

Our personal favorite is Ranchos. Highly themed, close to main pool, bus stop and only about a 5 minute walk to main hub.
Second favorite is Cabanas, good location in between main hub and main pool and home to Business Lounge rooms.
Least favorite is Casitas, they are tall and look like FL condos, too close to convention and some of the rooms longer walk to stuff.

I don't remember this many options my last trip but only one I am seeing ... Since I book standard I put in Ranchos and Courtyard View.
If I get that guarantees I won't have a parking lot view and puts me in a good spot location wise.

I think those options got snapped down to 5 in the last update. I don't think Dave has caught up with the changes there.

I think in your shoes I would request Ranchos. It sounds like you don't really want/need to be in the thick of things, and so the quieter section might be nice. You'll still be very close to the main pool (where you can refill drinks) and to parking, and each section has its own laundry room. If you call to make specific requests, I would ask for building 7B myself--you can see on the map it'll put you between parking, laundry, and the pool.

Cabanas 8a or Ranchos 7b will put you directly adjacent to the Dig Site, where the main pool and morning-to-evening pool bar (which serves food and offers mug refills) is located. That would cover most of your needs. From either building, you'd have about a five-minute walk over to Casitas 4 where the self-service laundry is located. Nothing is really that far from parking at Coronado.

For your situation, I would call and request 9A. You are right next to the quiet pool and laundry, close to parking, and close to the front for refills. We always stay in Cabanas 8A or B, which are also good and closest to bus stop. If when you checking in, they have you somewhere else from your request, politely remind them, and if it is not open, have a second choice in mind. They have always nicely accommodates us.

Depending on dates, remember that they are starting refurb. So it may be best to ask for an area, rather than a specific building.

Anyone have any insight on this: we are going the week before Thanksgiving and our only area choice on online check in is Cabanas. Someone I know going week after Thanksgiving has both Cabanas & Ranchos. Just curious why that might be? (We want Casitas BTW)

I was in Cabanas 8B and my room faced the parking lot 2nd floor and just a few doors down from the stairs that were right next to the quiet pool and laundry room. Bus stop across the parking lot, main pool just right across the bridge. I asked for Cabanas and a king bed as my second request since I was solo. It was a corner room. I don't care about view in the moderates since I don't open the windows. Nothing was really very far.
