We are on the Disney Dining Plan. In the past the Counter Service meals were 100% free. How does that work at the Coronado Springs Pepper Market. I see a 10% gratituity is required. Do they have light waiter service? Assume you pay that with cash? Is it on all items including TOGO?

I believe it is automatically added to your bill when you check out or in your case, when they swipe your room key. Since you on the DDP, it shouldn't cost you any extra. I think Disney must have that arrangement worked out with them.

I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to either confirm this or tell me I'm completely wrong. :lmao: But I don't remember paying anything OOP when we stayed at Coronado, which by the way is my favorite place to stay so far!

Yes, they have light waiter service there. Drink refills, plate clearing, etc.

The 10% service fee is NOT covered by the DDP (anymore). It used to be, but it no longer is. However, you can also avoid it if desired by getting your meals "to go" and then eating them at the tables right outside.

The gratuity is no longer covered under the DDP. You will be expected to leave a tip on the table. The cashier will not bill you for it however, so if you don't leave it, the waiter just gets stiffed. We've found some politely tell you it's no longer included with the DDP, but others don't. If you look at the bottom of the order card the waiter gives you, it is clearly written in small print that gratuity is not included with the DDPs. If you want to avoid the tip, you can get your food to go and then either take it back to your room or to eat outside at one of the many tables facing the lake.

Wonder why they don't change the set up so that they don't even provide "light" service? I, personally, wouldn't want to have to pay a tip for what is considered to be a counter service credit. I do love the food that is offered there, but that would probably prevent me from going there for that reason. :confused3

10% doesn't work out to that much but I would agree with you. I don't really like paying for service I don't need in a CS restaurant. I have no trouble walking over to the drink station to fill my own glass.

As others have said, you can avoid the tip by taking your food and eating outside.

On DDP the meals aren't free, you've prepaid for them (or you've traded a room discount for rack rate and free dining).

Closing this, as it is a question about tips, and the answer has been posted.
