Through Shades of Green, I should be able to get either one for under $100 per night. I like the idea of taking a bus to the parks instead of the monorail to MK and than another monorail to Epcot. It just seems easier.

I've never stayed in either yet, but I'm going to be staying at Coronado on my next trip...nine days and counting!!! :) My sister made the ressies for me wherever they were available at the discount rate she gets and it ended up being Coronado. I asked on the board for adults and solo travelers, and the general feeling was that since Coronado was designed as a convention hotel, solo travelers tend to stick out a little less than they would at some of the others. Of course from what I understand the Contemporary also serves as a convention hotel. If you can wait until the 21st to make your ressies, I can give you a full report on Coronado from a solo traveler's perspective.

I stayed solo @ coronado springs and recommend it highley.
I would try to get a room nearest the main hotel amenities (I think they're called the casitas section). you'll have longer walk to the main pool, but be closer to everything else.

Jodi I've stayed at both and they are equallly terrific hotels. I think I would, however, choose the Contemporary over CSR just to have the option of walking to the Magic Kingdom if necessary. It is great to be able to walk back after a parade instead of crowding onto the bus or monorail. You can also go to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian to dine if you wish.

I do love CSR too. It is beautifully themed and is close to Epcot and MGM. Check out my signature for pics of CSR.

If you have any questions regarding either PM me or post them here.

As a solo traveler, I can definitely say that I'd stay at CSR again! I loved it! The fact that there's usually at least one convention going on helps you not stick out quite as much. The ground are beautiful! I stayed in the Casitas section, building 3 and loved being as close to El Centro (the main building) as I was. I had a bit of a hike to the theme pool, but I like that it's pretty evened out...if you've got a hike to El Centro, you're closer to the pool and vice-versa. There were some parts of the Ranchos section that seemed a little isolated, but walking around the main path I never felt unsafe. I got food from the Pepper Market to go a couple of times and it wasn't bad.

Again, I have never stayed at the Contemporary, so I can't compare, but for theming and stuff, CSR is definitely the top choice in my book.

I would also have to recomend you stay at the contemporary! I love the hotel it has great location and the monorails are not as bad as you would think... I like them better in fact!

Thats a hard one! I love the contemp, but on my last trip I stayed a few days at CS and loved it! I was in Cabanas 9B and it was literally right next to el centro and a bus stop, and I was pretty darn close to the main pool as well. Its a beautiful resort. It's a moderate with a deluxe feel.
CS has a lot fo options for food witht he pepper market and its variety of food there, plus there is the maya grill and in room dining. The resort doesn't share its buses with any other resort either.
The contemp has chef mickeys(bleh) and the concourse steakhouse(very good) and then the small food area. But it is right on the monorail and within walking distance to the MK> They do share their buses here with the GF and POLY>

You can't go wrong with CR. You will have the monorail access to Epcot and MK. You can also walk to MK from CR. The pool is great also. Have fun planning!

A tv segment I once saw claimed that hotels with interior hallways are safer for solo travelers. I feel pretty safe anywhere at WDW, but if this is an issue for you, the Contemporary tower has interior hallways. Mr. Safety-Guy on the show said your room is more secure if it doesn't open onto a parking lot.

That said, Coronado Springs is lovely. We spent a night there this summer before checking into a DVC room, and we loved it. I met some nice convention-ladies and the whole area is just beautiful.

Best Wishes
