Coronado Springs....huge disappointment.

Thanks for an honest opinion! That's what I like about these brds, people aren't afraid to be honest! With any resort, some will love it & some will hate it, some will have a wonderful experience, some will be plauged with problems......

Dh & I have looked at this resort. When we travel, we like up & down hotels, we do not like spread out resorts. We stayed at a Marriott one once & hated it. We had to get into our car just to drive to the lobby.

If we could get a "gurarentee" that we would be in the building closest to the resturants/pool/bus stop, then we'd be fine staying at any moderate. Unfortunantly, Disney doesn't give "guarentees".......

Hello joats! I am a firm believer that "once you go deluxe, you can't go back." We started out 9 years ago (our honeymoon) visiting Disney. We first stayed at the value resorts, due to budget constraints of course. We eventually moved up to moderate. Our first moderate was CBR and we thought that was the cat's meow! When Coronado opened, we tried it and loved it! In fact, we've stayed there 3 times and I'd say it's my favorite moderate. It's a lovely resort, and we like Maya Grille. The pool is cool too!

BUT, then we started staying at Deluxe resorts. First Contemporary, then YC, BC, GF, and WL. Our all time favorite resort, and the place we'll only stay is YC/BC. I can honestly say that had I stayed at YC/BC and THEN stayed at Corondao, I would have been disappointed as well. In fact, we were disappointed with WL. We stayed there this year and it taught is a valuable lesson - we're Epcot Resort Area fans. Love the convenience, love stormalong bay and and the dining options right outside the door.

So, I think if WL is your favorite...stick to it! We use to feel guilty for not trying different resorts. So we did. Even left the GF to check into the Beach Club one time. And, if you think about it, you can get good deals at WL (like AP discount). It's not that much more than a moderate.

>>> went up to get something and came back to find the waiter serving someone else at our table...

Guess one person will have to stay at the table at all times.

Actually this IMHO is a huge no no on the part of the waiter!. Unless the waiter thought that you and the tip were gone for good, and then what he did could make that a self fulfilling prophesy.

In the name of future quality assurance, it's one of the things worth bringing to the attention of management with an immediate request for a one third discount. This aims at "a settlement" where the total mutually agreed upon price approximates the check price with no tip.

When resorts are closed or overbooked and people have to be moved, I had in the past simply expected the same or better category (moderate, value) of resort at the same price or a lower category resort at comparable percentage savings off rack rate. I haven't yet come up with an improved formula taking into account attributes such as inside corridors.

I stayed at Coronado Springs over 4th of July. (very busy time)

I loved it there and we will be going back for sure. I could not ask for a better resort. We were in the Casitas building number 3. It was quiet, well landscaped and maintained and very clean. Bus service was great and the cast members were awesome. I am a CSR fan. :)

Sorry you had a bad experience.

919Florida - how funny. We were at the CSR in Casitas 3 for July 5th-12th. We felt the complete opposite. What room were you in? We were probably neighbors. LOL. Same resort, same building, totally different experience.

I guess you just don't know if you'll like it unless you try it. We chose this hotel because it reminded us of the awesome month that we spent in Phoenix last Christmas. We thought that we would love it. It was ok-don't get me wrong - but we're also not in a hurry to go back.

We thought the buses and the CMs were less than stellar. We had spent 7/3 and 7/4 at the Dolphin and to us, it was hard going from a deluxe to a moderate.

We were in room 3352. So how close were we? :) I just guess everyone has different taste. It was a great resort for us. ::MickeyMo

THey even made us towel animals and arranged our stuffed animals. They sure made us feel like home here.

We were in 3346 and our 4 kids were in 3345. So we WERE neighbors. Were you on the side of Casitas facing the lake? That's where we were and the view was pretty!

The only thing we received from Mousekeeping was extra soap. LOL. Nothing else....no animals or other stuff. They must have tired themselves out by the time they moved down to us.

We had a view of the courtyard. There was a beautiful row of fountains with lions shooting water out by our room.

I'm sorry you were disapointed. I have never stayed at a deluxe only moderates and values. I have stayed at both and have never been disappointed. I have stayed at CSR and enjoyed it but everyone has there own opion. KELLY

Gald to hear the rest of your trip was great! Live and learn, I guess! But I know what you mean about things not feeling right as soon as you walk into a resort or hotel - I hate that!

I think when you have fallen in love with a certain resort, it is very hard to get too excited about a different resort. It doesn't even matter if the new resort is more expensive. We have never stayed at the CSR as it is too much like our home area of Colorado. We much prefer the CBR, even over the Poly, because we fell in love with it first and went back time after time so it became our "home away from home." We had the same experience staying at the AKL when they reassigned us due to the remodeling at the CBR. It was not our cup of tea but more importantly, it wasn't the CBR. I am glad to hear that you love the WL as my son, dil and grandbabies are all staying there in a couple of weeks. I hope they love it as much as you do. Just think how much you are going to anticipate your next trip to the WL and how much fun you will have when you get back there.

When we stayed at the Grand Floridian in '91, we went over to see CBR which had just been built - and, didn't like it. About 10 years later, we went to CBR with the kids and fell in love with it.

Same thing with CSR - first time we went to visit, my husband and I thought it wasn't shady enough - it looked and felt too hot. But, I went back a few years later on a quick trip with the kids and loved it. Hammocks on the beach, beautiful southwest colors; the lights on the fountains at night - I loved all of it. :D
