ok i have eliminated two of the moderates due to tastes and some of the comments. i have narrowed it down to coronado and riverside but which one?

i like the sound of the way the food court is managed at coronado - no long queues to pay while your food is getting cold!

but I like the idea of the boat to downtown disney at riverside

which would your preference be?

I prefer CSR because of the transportation. CSR does not share buses with another resort and it's location is central so there are quick rides to all the parks. And the convention aspect leaves the buses and pool area less crowded during the day because they are off doing their convention thing.

Then the pool/slide area is the best of all the mods.

Both resorts are popular on the DIS.

POR without a doubt. Spent time at both and CSR will never see a dollar from my family again.

Rip off surcharge at the food court, convention folks all over and issues at the main pool with those same convention folks.

Staff was less then pleasant also. Theme was nice but resort is more spread out then even POR

Buses are fine at POR, they have extra for FQ when busy. Much better food court and pool/slide is really nice. Plus you can walk to FQ and are allowed to use their pool. Boat to DTD is a big plus. Horse carriages also.

Amazing resort POR

I have stayed at CSR twice, and I am second guessing my upcoming reservation at POR, just because I am not sure it can live up to my view of CSR! We love it there - saw convention people, but it never bothered me. As said above, it left the pool area for us during the day! As long as I wasn't dressed in a suit, I didn't care if others were. Oh, man, I think I want to switch back!

I have stayed at both, and really regretted staying at POR this past year instead of CSR. We are huge CSR fans. The bus transportation cannot be beat from out experience, and I love the theming. I always request a Cabana building, which we are always lucky to get, and its close to the food court, busses and pools. I just love CSR!

Everyone will have a differing opinion ... there two major factors you need to consider when making your decision.

1. Large Vs Small ... CSR is larger, and spread out (good points and bad points to this), POR is much smaller and compact with literally thousands less quests (again, good and bad points to this).

2. The theming ... do you and your family (don't forget to get your family's opinion on this) like a southwestern theme or a New Orleans theme?

... you will get tons of opinions, but the decision is up to you ... theming is a big part of our decisions.

Just my 2 cents here:

Whenever I look at a thread with CSR in it I see the same people posting over and over again. I've only stayed at POR so I can't give a comparison - really loved POR though! I say, honestly, don't pay too much attention to what everyone says, good or bad. Read up on and look at pictures of both resorts and choose the one that appeals to you most. All of the resorts have their fans so I'm sure you really can't make a bad decision!

Both are very wonderful resorts. I'm sure you would be happy with either. So don't fret too much over it.

My opinions:

Bussing is better at CSR
Check in is smoother at CSR
Because of conventions, it feels less crowded

Love the theming at POR
Love the boat to DTD
Like the food court better (we had horrible food/service at CSR - not worth the price)

If we had a car I would choose POR, but we never do, and for that reason alone we would choose CSR over POR.

CSR and POR are the same size and CSR has fewer rooms than POR.

Have stayed at both. I feel CSR is better for adults/older kids; it involves more walking, bigger pool and slide, and more conventioneers. POR is not spread out as much, smaller pool but still good slide for little ones, and pirate cruise for kids 4-12; POR is better for younger kids. Both food courts are good; more selection for picky kids at POR. Bus transportation is better at CSR, but not bad at POR. POR also has boat transportation to DD, which is very tranquil. Both have beautiful landscaping. It all depends on who is going, adults only or with kids, and what are their ages. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Same occurs for threads on CBR, POFQ, and POR. What's your point? As you said, they each have there following.

:surfweb: I am in the same dilema (sp?) not sure which to choose, CSR or POFQ. I saw someone post that CSR is has more guests than POR and I wasnt sure so I went to fact sheet page of Allears.net and found that CSR has 1967 rooms and POR has 2048 witht the FQ chipping in another 1000 rooms. :confused3 So I guess CSR is bigger in terms of physical size the Port Orleans Riverside has more guest rooms (not too many though at full capacithy maybe 400ish people) with the FQ chipping in folks. I realize they are separte resorts POR and FQ but they do share some things. My wife is leaning towards POR cause we havnt stayed there, Im leaning towards CSR cause we have stayed there! :grouphug: we will be deciding which one to choose soon:rotfl:

And that's the old number of rooms. The new number is 1,921 because they lost rooms when they added the suites to the resort. Not a huge difference.

My point is that every resort has their fans, and also those who will bash it, so people should take everything that is said with a grain of salt! You obviously love CSR and would never say a negative thing about it. Others post nothing but negatives. I'm not saying anything bad about anyone - of course you are all entitled to your opinions! I just think the best way to go is to read up on the resorts and make your own decisions!

I have stayed at both and been happy with CSR and POR. CSR is beautiful at night. I love the place you can sit by the water and look at all the lights. The lobby is great. The food court has alot to offer, but you either love it or hate it. POR is more of a southern feel to me. I do like the room decor better here. Their food court is one of my favorites in all of Disney. I have to kids 3 and 4 who like both resorts pools. CSR had great bus service when we stayed there. We did not share with any other resorts. POR has the boat to DTD which is relaxing, but most of the time we had a long wait to board the boat. POR and POFQ did share buses some. We did not share on every trip, but on some we did. I personally think it is all about what taste is. I love both but basically it is about theming.

Well said! And yes, I do love CSR! :cloud9:

We stayed at POR this past Aug. & won't be going back. The bus service was awful & I'm taking into acct. that we went at a busier time of yr. Disney should have taken that into account when dispatching buses to the resort. We stayed at CSR twice before & it really is a beautiful resort & a real escape. We didn't have that same feeling at POR. I think it had a lot to do with the landscaping. I also summed up my feeling about POR as it was just too "beige". This described the buildings, decor, personalities of the CMs etc. The main pool was mobbed so every time we wanted to swim we walked over to the POFQ pool. This sounds quick because it's right next to POR, but it was a long walk & the bldg. we were in was very close to POFQ too. Also, the new food court is very limited in its choices.

We've stayed at both resorts (PORS 2003 & CSR 2006, 2007) and far and away prefer CSR!

A few points for CSR:

1. Great pool, pool bar & pool slide:cool2:
2. Great food court (The Pepper Market)
3. Centrally located (short bus rides)
4. Beautiful grounds and themeing

A few problems with PORS:

1. Slow busses (shared with POFQ)
2. The boat to DTD is fun but SLOOOOW!:confused3
3. Food court is average at best
4. Pool is ok, pool bar is good, pool slide is average

Just my two cents, but we are hooked on CSR!:thumbsup2

Hmmm... Why did you narrow it down to just those 2? Have you considered POFQ? IMHO, its one of the best due to its compact size, excellent transportation options (same as POR) and nice pool.

I've stayed and POR and if you stay in the right building you'll be close to the pool and food court.
