Coronado or Caribbean?

My son and I have gone to Disney twice, both in 2007 & 2008. We first stayed at Caribbean Beach and loved it. In 2008 we stayed at POFQ, which was nice too, but we liked Caribbean Beach better.

I just booked us for Caribbean Beach for our 3rd trip. On a whim, however, I decided to check out the Coronado FAQ thread here, and it looks nice! My son was sitting here with me, and he happens to agree. :)

I'm sure this exact question has popped up a million times, but any chance y'all would mind answering again? Some info you may want to know -- my son is 10 and loves to hang in the pool with me in the sweltering afternoons. Also we will have a car, so the bus service at either place doesn't matter.

Thanks!

We stayed at both during our last stay in 2010. We were initially in the Pirate Rooms at CBR and asked to be moved due to the fact that I thought the beds were terribly uncomfortable...we asked to be moved to CSR which our whole family loved. It was so peaceful, queen size beds, and we loved their pool. If I was to choose again...I would choose CSR over CBR.

First off, just wanted to say I noticed you are from Rockland. My parents are both from there and we have a few relatives still in the area. :goodvibes

I haven't stayed at CBR since 1994 but we did stay at CSR in 2010. We almost always stay at Pop but decided to do CSR that trip. We loved the resort but my main issue with it was that it is so spread out that I feel like we didn't get to fully enjoy it.

We are the types that are in the parks until close and then once we are back to the room it is very late and we don't have the energy to drag ourselves to the main pool or wherever. So as much as I really liked the resort, I can't see myself spending the $$ again to really enjoy the resort unless I had a few "down" days to do that. That is my feeling about CBR too or any of the deluxes. I want to stay at them all but I just know that we aren't at the resort enough to make it worth it.

If you haven't tried CSR yet though I would definitely opt for that. My girls did both love it and would love to go back.

without a doubt, CSR gets our vote! We just stayed there in September, 2011 and it is now our preferred resort. The pool is really big with a fun slide, and there are games that go on throughout the day. Plus, they had pool side movies going on each night.

The queen sized beds in the rooms also made a huge difference for us, as both my husband and myself are tall. Fitting into a double/full sized bed is not a pleasant experience! :) A lot of folks complain about how big the CSR is, but we're not the type to feel like we have to really "explore" an entire resort while on our vacation. We requested to be out in Ranchos Building 7B, as it was close to 2 bus stops, had a quiet pool, and the laundry facility. We were lucky to get a corner room in 7B, facing the quiet pool. We LOVED the location. It seemed very quiet and it didn't bother us at all to have to walk up to El Centro (about an 8-10 walk for us). Plus, we were just a couple of minutes from main pool.

It really is a beautiful and relaxing resort. While I did enjoy the colorful-ness (is that a word?!) of CBR, CSR won us over completely.

Good luck!

I've stayed at all four moderates and CSR would get my vote by far. I go to WDW several times a year and pretty much always stay in a moderate, so have stayed at all four within the last couple of years. However, we usually wind up at CSR and POFQ the most. I'd rank them:

#1. and #2. CSR and POFQ (almost a tie, with CSR edging out POFQ by just a smidge)
#3. PORS
#4. CBR

Thanks everybody! I went ahead and changed the reservation, so we'll be at CSR 8/27-9/2. :)

I haven't stayed at CBR, but we love CSR! My kids are 12 and 9, and they rank the CSR pool second only to Stormalong Bay - they liked it better than the pool at Poly, AKL and OKW. I do think the CSR pool is better for elementary and older kids and adults, while the CBR pool is better for little kids with the splash area and the zero entry. My kids are all about the slide and having some room to throw a football without running into someone else. CSR also has a campfire and movie by the pool each evening.

We thought the beds at CSR were very comfortable, and the CSR rooms have sliding wooden doors that separate the vanity area from the rest of the room - great for getting ready and giving each other a little privacy.

We almost always have a car at WDW, but it tends to sit in the parking lot at CSR - the bus service is consistently good. We do drive to the water parks and to DTD.

I also like to try new resorts, so I'd recommend trying CSR just for something new. Even though I maintain the CSR FAQ thread, we're staying at Boardwalk this summer (shhh!). :tiptoe: It is fun to try new places.

LMAO! Bueller! hahahahahaa :lmao:

Hey, looks like we'll be at the same resort around the same time! Im also at CSR from Aug.26-Sept.1. Its just my son and I. Just look for a lady with a giant smile on her face, with her son rolling his eyes. I'll see you there! :goodvibes

You know what, I saw some of your posts and noticed that! I know we don't know each other, but my son, (who will likely ALSO being rolling his eyes at me) would love to have a friend at the pool. Maybe we can coordinate on a day to let them hang a bit? Let me know what you think. :)

What a wonderful idea!!!! That way our boys can swim while you and I drink...I mean, "chill" by the pool. LOL! :lmao: I love to swim, but my god its annoying when my son has nobody to play with in the pool cause that means I am his playmate! He wont let me leave the pool! So im there playing with him in the pool for 2 hours. :headache:

We swim every day, so we should definitely coordinate. Send me a private message closer to our trip and we'll arrange something. BTW I just sent you a friend request. :thumbsup2

I had no idea there were friend requests here! I just posted something to you over there. This will be great. :)
