Corner Sink Dish Drying ideas

I hope someone has a good idea for some other way of drying dishes and pots and pans, with a sink that is catty-cornered on an island. We have tried a regular dish rack and mat but because of the angle it doesn't fit. We have tried an over-sink drainer but it is in the way too much. Are there dish drying racks and mats that are made for this?

We have seen that first one and it won't hold heavy pots and pans like a regular dish rack does. I went through a number of pages in the second link and didn't see anything that would fit and would hold pots and pans like a regular dish rack. We're looking for one that is shaped like this:

I don't think we're the only one with an island like this so I was hoping someone would have invented something just for it by now. :)

Thank you though.

Who makes the sink? I have a funny shaped Kohler sink and funny shaped racks that fit it, purchased directly from Kohler.

Have never seen a sink quite like yours before, OP. I have "L-shaped" sinks in my kitchen and in an odd size. Can't find a rack to fit.

The sink is a regular sink. It is catty corner in an island so that is the shape of the space for the dish rack.

The first link Pea-n-Me posted is a good shape, triangular, but it just doesn't have enough room for pots and pans. For that it would need to be bigger and shaped like what I drew above.

If the triangular dishrack is good otherwise, what about washing the pots and pans last, then drying them immediately?

Perhaps you could make, or have made, exactly the disgrace you seek - given that clearly no suggestions are satisfactory.

I have the exact same problem.

I could not find any good odd shaped system so I wound up getting a regular rack/pan similar to this Dish Rack Set

I put Placemats similar to these under the rack to soak up the water. I hang them on the side of the rack after the dishes get put away before bed to avoid "wet sponge smell" and I toss them in the wash about every 3 days. You'd want the thickest cotton placemats so would probably be better to buy them in person.

Don't waste your money on placemats. They make drying pads that are super absorbent.

Thanks for the practical and thoughtful responses.

We found something comparable. It's still not the right shape to let us make use of the space we have but it helps get around some of the difficulties associated with a hard dish rack.

Well, it appears that marlynnp's suggestion to cut and sew the drying mat into the exact shape needed would create the right shape - despite not linking that specific drying mat.

We put our pots upside down on a dish towel. There isn't a need for a rack- they are never large enough for many pots anyway.

When we're cooking for a crowd that's an issue for us. Though after feeding a crowd we are a lot less concerned about having pots and pans all over the place. :goodvibes

I don't have a corner sink or need a corner rack, but I do have a very small dish drainer beccause I don't want some big huge thing on my countertop (and mostly I use the dishwasher anyway). So my dish drainer doesn't hold a lot of pots and pans, eiither, but when I have to wash lots, I just, as a pp suggested, either dry them by hand or I put down an extra pad for this puprpose or paper towels while they dry. I reaally think this is your best solution. I'm always on the look out for the smalll dish drainers I like, in black, and they are hard to find, too.
