AM STAYING AT POR STARTING THIS SUNDAY. IS A CORNER ROOM MUCH OF AN IMPROVEMENT OVER AN INTERIOR ROOM? WE HAVE 5 STAYING IN THE ROOM AND NEED A TRUNDLE BED. WE ARE LIKELY STAYING IN BAYOU. DO YOU SUGGEST REQUESTING THE CORNER ROOM AND WHAT DOES A CORNER ROOM IMPROVE ON OVER AN INTERIOR ROOM...IS IT LARGER OR JUST WITH ANOTHER WINDOW, ETC...?

ALSO,

WE HAVE 5 PEOPLE AND NEED TO STAY WITH TRUNDLE BED IN BAYOU. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A QUIET ROOM WITH GOOD VIEW AND NOT TO BUSY PROBABLY WITH GOOD PROXIMITY TO POOL. WHAT BUILDING DO YOU SUGGEST?

THANK YOU

It is the same as a regular room only it has a two windows in the corner allowing in more light. All the other amenities and tyhe size of the room are the same. It makes for a little bit of a nicer environment unless you like it darker inside. ;)

I would call today for these requests if you are arriving Sunday. Call directly to the resort and ask for the front desk, they will help with your requests. We LOVE building 15. It is so close when you get off the buses (south depot) and very close to the main bldg and food court. Have a great stay and ride the slide at the main pool for me!! and get a nice frozen strawberry daiquiri at their bar, oh yum.

We were just there and stayed in #17, #1721 I think. It was a corner room and had a trundle bed. Close to the quiet pool and close to a bus stop; fairly close to food court.

I think all the corner room adds is a 2nd window. The two windows make for a nice view outside. The trundle bed was neat too. We are just 4 and didn't need it but my kids sure thought it was nifty!

When you are checking in, ask questions about the room before they complete the check-in. I saw they were putting me in #39 (?) and I protested. We were only staying 1 night before moving over to a DVC room and I asked for "ground floor near parking lot." I was sure I would get this -- who asks to be near the parking lot? Sure enough, they had us in a building so far away from parking and on the 3rd floor! The young man who helped me was nice and offered #17 instead. So protest if the assignment isn't what you hoped for -- it might get you moved.

Have fun!

2 times I have been in the corner rooms and both times they were considered "water" view. In the mansions I had the view of the river and in AB I had a view of the pool. Since they were both water view they were NOT standard rooms so cost more. But logically there has to be corner rooms facing the parking lot, but they may be King Bed rooms, which again would cost more. While at AB I had a King Bed in a corner room facing the pool, second floor, (No trundle bed in the king bed rooms). The room was the same size just the extra window.

we have a water view reservation and i asked for a corner room in buildings 14 or 15 (as that is what previous info on this site made it sound was smart to do). i want something in good proximity to resources - pool, etc..., yet in a quiet area. does this sound like the place to you experienced folk?:Pinkbounc

I had a corner room in 14 (1421? maybe) that was standard view. I have also stayed in 1415 which was considered standard even though the river was just to our left. The room to our left was the corner room. Room 1415 was a GREAT room to stay in.

But logically there has to be corner rooms facing the parking lot,
We've stayed in both 14 and 15, both times with corner rooms and neither time did we view the parking lot. In 15 we had a beautiful courtyard view and in 14 we had a courtyard view out one window, and the river out the other window. Both times we paid the "standard" rate. ~:D~

Its me again (I recommended bldg. 15, FABU location). To tell you the truth, the view means nothing to us as we are literally hardly ever there but to shower and sleep. But let me tell you that location meant EVERYTHING after getting off the buses at night and your feet are aching. Request bldg. 15, you won't regret it. Don't sweat the view, you won't be there long enough to enjoy it, too much fun at the parks!!!! :Pinkbounc

We are staying at POR May 7-13th. We have 5 people in one room and are getting a trundle bed. I dont care what kind of view I have because I am so happy to be staying on disney this time and at POR. Is the bayou the only rooms at POR that have the trundle beds and accomodate 5 people? 30 more days.... I cant wait.

PS I have seen pictures of this resort and I am looking forward to just walking around the resort and taking my own pics... It looked so beautiful in the pictures I saw online.

jillpie,
when you get back from POR will you come onto the boards and tell us about POR and how your trip was and any rumors you may have heard about how the closing of POFQ will effect POR if it does at all?
Kim
PS will you PLEASE let me know if you can buy those beignets at POR?

Bayou rooms are the ones with the trundle beds.

You'll love Riverside. It's very relaxing there. My kids loved the souvenir store and I appreciated that they had supplies for sale like milk and donuts, in case you want to have breakfast in the room. The whole area where you check in is really cool, as well as the food court area. The grounds are gorgeous. Flowers everywhere fileld with birds and bunnies. Take the ferryboat to Downtown Disney if you have time. The pool is great and Boatwright's restaurant is very good. Have fun!

My first night there I was planning on taking the boat ride to DTD. I have a ressie at the rainforest cafe. I cant wait. Im more excited then my kids are.

we just returned from our trip to por last night and had a wonderful time. we were in building 16...we had requested buildings 14 or 15, but about 1/2 of the buildings appear to be closed due to lowish attendance so we had no choice. if possible ask for a corner room in 14 or 15, but i like 14 as it is in great proximity to everything important such as the restaurant and the big old man island pool. if you are going to be at the resort for any length of time purchase the one or two por soda mugs for $10-$11 and refill soda, coffee and hot chocolate to your hearts content. the pool was fun for my 7, 11 and 13 year old boys until we pool hopped at the yacht and beach club. that pool was incredible. it took a couple of days for our kids to re-adjust to our pool. a great thing we did was bring a tennis ball to play with in the pool. the kids got on the island in the middle of the pool and took turns jumping off trying to catch the ball. we met many other kids this way. the grounds were beautiful. when planning the trip, please if possible leave time to take walks around the river, go to kennedy space center (we saw a rocket launch), cocoa beach (don't miss dinner on the pier and ron jons surf shop), clearwater beach (the white sands and dinner on the beach at frenchys rockaway grill) and so many other things we never got a chance to do. ohanas at the polynesian was great for my wifes birthday dinner. make reservations around 7:45 pm, ask for a table on the window with a view of the majic kingdom fireworks and eat till you are stuffed. if there is a birthday make sure they know it. also there are some fun activities for the kids during dinner.    :sunny: :earsboy: should you have any questions please let me know as i would be happy to help. mostly i just want to thank everyone for all of their help with my planning of the trip.

Are the trundle beds just for kids? We have 5 adults that will be going on our trip but we could only afford a moderate resort.

THanks!
Krispe

Pick your tiniest adult and assign him/her to the trundle if possible! We got one last month and although we didn't need it (we are a family of 4), the kids pulled it out about 100 times. The mattress is not that thick and I don't think the trundle was quite as long as the regular bed. You sure can't put a giant on the thing, but for an average-sized woman I think it would be OK. The bigger issue is not stepping on that person... When the trundle is extended there is very little space left between the one bed and the door! Careful if anyone needs the potty at 4am!

the trundle bed is probably about 1 foot shorter and 1 foot thinner than a normal single bed. it was fine for my seven year old, but my thirteen year old was starting to outgrow it. i am 5 feet 9 inches and i don't think it would have worked for me. you may be better off bringing a sleeping bag also so you could use it in place of or as a supplement to the trundle bed.

I would not recommend an adult sleeping on the trundle. It fits my 10 year old, thats about it. The adult would be extremely uncomfortable on this. I suggest bringing an aero bed instead (single) and deflate it in seconds in the morning or just put it up against the wall in the morning, much more comfortable.
