Cornado or PO?

We have a reservation at the Coronado Springs for January. We've been there on our last stay but I've been looking at POFQ/Riverside to change things up. It'll be our first trip to the World as a married couple so I was toying with staying somewhere different that neither of us have been to. The price difference is around $250 and we'll be there for 6 nights. Is it worth the extra money or since you really don't end up staying in the room all too long anyway should we just stick with what we have?

Which resort are you leaning more towards changing to, POR or POFQ? They are very different resorts. POFQ is small and has one bus stop. POR is larger and has 4 stops. I've stayed at all 3 resorts and really like them all, so I don't think you can make a bad choice.

What theme appeals most?

I'm not a fan of the PO resorts, just because I don't feel the myth of the Old South, and FQ is sort of a cartoon of the real thing. But others really enjoy both themes.

You'd have the boat to Disney Spring with either Port hotel. I love POFQ for its decor (and beignets), its small size, one bus stop, close to EPCOT, etc... plus it will have a renovated food court.

All good points. Have people found the one bus stop at POFQ to be crazy or is the resort small enough that it doesn't get packed? I stayed there once years ago so I don't remember much from it.

We have stayed at POFQ a few times and the resort is small enough that the bus stop doesn't get crazy.

Btw, I wouldn't pay more to stay at POR. And probably wouldn't pay more to stay at POFQ for that matter, IMO. I've stayed at all three that you're considering .

Mostly because you don't find one particularly better than the others? Honestly it's just the allure of something different and new for us. The Coronado was just fine when we stayed.

I would never pay extra for POFQ since it does not have a full moderate offering of amenities and the pool, geared for young children, is of no interest to us. I've stayed there, wasn't wowed by the experience.

POR and CSR are equal in terms of dollar value so I think it really depends on what you want. Love them both, both really pretty in their own ways. I've stayed in all rooms at POR and prefer Royal Guest Rooms; I've stayed in all at CSR and prefer Ranchos.

POR - huge plus is boat to DS, one of the better food courts and Yehaa Bob in the lounge.

CSR - huge plus is pool and pool amenities AND if on DDP, way more options at the resort, great bus service.

Those were my last 2 and BOTH were amazing! No complaints from either. Pools at both are great....dining courts are great. Rooms at POR were really great!

We have stayed at all of these resorts, and loved them both!

If you aren't going to be at the resort very much, I would just save the extra $250 and stay a CS.

That being said, since it is just you and hubby, POR has a lot of fun things to offer...boat to Disney Springs, beignets at POFQ, watercraft rental, Bob Jackson show at POFQ, bike rentals, and carriage rides...

I don't think you will be disappointed with either resort! It really just depends on what you want out of your time there!

Happy Planning!

We love POR. Very cool atmosphere and a lot to see. But like you said, if you are not planning on spending much time at the resort CS will be just as good of an option as it is also a great resort.

If doing DS is part of your plans go for one of the PO resorts. The boat to DS is great and from 4:30pm on the 2 PO resorts have their own boats which is a big plus speaking as someone who's first 8 visits (out of 10) they always shared. We walk up to POR a few times during our POFQ trips to use the pool , eat at the TS / foodcourt or hang out at the lounge.

Yeeha Bob Jackson is at POR not POFQ.

POFQ has a lounge with musical entertainment some nights.

I love POR, and would 100% do that for the extra money. It has a special place in my heart, and I personally found it so much more beautiful than Coronado, which didn't really resonate with me. The boat to Disney Springs is such a bonus too. I've never stayed at POFQ but we did visit - I liked the ambience and decor at POR better, as well as the gift shop. I don't mind a larger resort, so the small-ness of POFQ is not that important to me.

Why not try something new? It's not that much extra money, and even if you don't fall in love with new at least it will fun to experience a new resort and ride the boat to DS.

Yes, you are correct! I was just posting everything that is easily available at the PO resorts, regardless of which one you are staying at!

Sorry, if I misled anyone. I tried to word it so you would know which activity was available at which resort! It is just a walk or short boat trip between resorts...so you can enjoy both!

It is your personal preference, however I much prefer CSR to PO. it is beautiful, has great bus service and is centrally located to all the parks (except MK). I love the food choice variety at the Pepper Market. However PO is also beautiful, I just prefer the look of CSR to PO but again that is personal preference. I would not pay more to say at one over the other as you cannot go wrong with either resort.

My favorite is Coronado - I think PO is good. Does having the boat ride as an option matter to you? Coronado is more "beautiful" where as I would describe PO as more cute or fun??? Seeing horses pull carriages is neat at PO, but I think that is not worth the extra money (and that money can be put into the go back to Disney fund :-)). - in all seriousness, you cannot go wrong with either! Have a great stay!
