Not sure if this is the right spot for this post, but curious if any other Dis friends suffer from a corn allergy?

Unfortunately corn, in some form; corn meal, corn grits, corn syrup solids etc., is in everything. For example Pizza Planet has corn meal covering the bottom of the pizza, where as places like AKV & WL & Pinocchi Village Haus use flat bread to make pizza so I live on that! To be more difficult I do not eat meat (my choice, not health related) so a lot of vegetarian meals at WDW have corn in them, so I really have to be careful. (Or they are tofu...ewww!!) This allergy came about 8 years ago, I was hoping it would have gone away by now!

So if you have a corn allergy I would like to hear from you!

I'm not allergic to corn, but I am highly allergic to coconut oil. Corn seems like another oddball allergy. Do people look at you like you have to be kidding? I have a friend who is allergic to lettuce!

I do not (although I think I may be developing one) but my sister who has went with us twice does. I had all of our ADRs notated and the chef would come out and discuss what she could and couldn't have. They even made her special Mickey Waffles at Tusker House breakfast and at Captain's Grille they got her a creme brulee dessert. There was something every where we went that she could have. She did not have any issues. Just ask.

I understand your situation. My husband is allergic to onions and garlic. I'm allergic to vinegar. At least vinegar is somewhat easy to avoid. Disney is so good at dealing with food allergies.

Yes they sometimes act as if im making it up, trust me I wish I was. I have noted it on trips in the past and I have had some chefs come and speak to me. I do wish i could enjoy all that pop corn through out the parks that smells so good!

I am allergic to corn among many other things, including rice! Disney is the one place I know I will be able to find something to eat. Their chefs are always so helpful and willing to work with you. My allergies didn't present themselves till my late twenties. I do miss popcorn, nachos, corn on the cob etc. But I've learned to live with it.

I have a corn allergy too! I found they were great at the few places I asked for adjustments... I had the wedge salad with smoked pork in DHS over by Rock N Roller Coaster - they left off the bean/corn relish and that salad was awesome. I also ate at the marketplace in AK near the safari ride - they allowed me to make substitutions to the side dishes there to accommodate as well.

Corn on the cob smells so good - but the last time I ate it was the very last time I ate corn anything, I was sick for days and so it has such an awful memory I don't want to eat it, but I love to smell it. I miss popcorn at the movies too.

I have found lots of places have creative substitutions for corn chips - nachos over thick potato chips or french fries are a good option.

The worst reaction lately was with a Power Crunch Vanilla Creme bar - it was so yummy but their special blend protein uses a corn product in the whey protein! It took forever to figure out that because it doesn't appear on the label.

my son has an airborne corn allergy....and 16 other food allergies. Disney does everything they can to make your trip special. and believe me, it's no easy feat when he's allergic to so much! good luck to you!

Thank you everyone for all the feedback! Happy to know im not the only one with a corn allergy!

I also have a corn allergy, but not as severe. I can tolerate small amounts of contamination (like a corn meal dusting), but when you combine it with my wheat allergy and lactose intolerance it can get challenging. Unfortunately, the allergy menus do not identify corn in dishes, but if you are making any table service restaurants you are able to mark corn as an allergen. October will be my first trip will all these allergies in full swing so I would love to hear and learn from your experiences.

A friend's daughter is allergic to corn - it makes her stark raving mad - bouncing off the walls. The strangest thing I have ever seen. It is a challenging allergy to have but you are definitely not alone.

I travelled to Disney over Christmas with my sister who was breastfeeding her corn allergic baby. Disney did try to accommodate but there was a lot of steak in her dinners lol with broccoli. We did a dessert night and that was the hardest because of all the corn syrup but they really tried to find something somewhere she could eat. The chefs were not thrown at all.

We have been with peanut and egg. My sister goes often with 20 some food allergies. Corn is not one of them but WDW will handle your corn allergy well. Most counter service places you will be given a binder to see all ingredients but at sit downs a chief will come and discuss your needs.
