We were in WDW for MNSSHP last year and our kids got a big kick out of the two sets of coordinated outfits we did as a family.

Do people tend to do this on cruises too? Maybe just for embarkation day or pirate night?

I don't know about coordinated OUTFITS, but you see a LOT of coordinated t-shirts - especially on embarkation day!

Yes, lots of coordinated t-shirts for embarkation day, pirate day, or special holidays (we were on a NYE cruise, so lots for NYE!) We saw people in matching Star Wars t-shirts, "our family cruise" type t-shirts, etc.

We will have coordinated outfits for embarkation, pirate night, semi and formal nights plus a few other nights. I love the look for pictures.

I noticed lots of groups with the matching t-shirts and complimentary outfits on embarkation. I also noticed that at dinner some groups tended to have outfits with coordinating color schemes, likely for pictures.

On Pirate Night, there are many people dressed up, or at least with special t-shirts. Many probably did coordinate, but I really did not pay much attention unless someone had a full outfit that really stood out.

We're doing family tshirts for embarkation day. We also have a couple of other cute coordinated outfits. But for most days, we're just all wearing something Disney themed.

We will be doing a disney t shirt day. Matching or coordinated outfit, I don't know if my wife has any plans, but I won't be matching anyone. I'm sure a lot of people do it. :rockband:

So, we have cruised DCL 28 times and have never worn matched outfits. However, this May our whole family is going on a cruise in memory of my Mom who cruised 20 times on DCL with us. We all want to get shirts (they may be different colors), but they will all say something about cruising in honor/memory of her since she introduced us to DCL. We haven't settled on the wording just yet, but we all wanted to do something in remembrance of her and her love for DCL.

My husband and I have a matching Hawaiian shirt and sundress from Castaway Cay, we've worn them on the Disney Dream, and also in Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland, it was very common in Asia to see couples matching their entire outfits. I don't think we'll be wearing the on our Alaskan cruise, though!

If we are buying the photo CD, we definately plan our outfits. And then take pictures of each evenings outfits before I pack. Anal, maybe ...but nobody has to think about which outfit is today...and my DH loves it bc he doesn't have to be bothered with fashion discussion with a stateroom of three girls

I saw a whole family dressed in Christmas pajamas at one of the Christmas parties at the lobby during the Holiday cruise. They looked great! I would love to do that if we are going back to cursing around that time...but it would be huge challenge to convince my DH. ;)
I wore the matching outfits with my DD on Pirate night. That was fun. Also on formal night I color coordinated my dress to DD's princess dress (DD as Belle -> gold dress for me, DD as Rapunzel -> purple dress for me). We love taking pictures and they do make the pictures look better!

We are doing same for my mom who passed in January. Any ideas?
Well, we haven't settled on the final wording of our shirts, but something like.

Sailing on the Disney Fantasy in memory of ______ who sailed 20 times with us on DCL.

Families who do this should be forced to walk the plank.

Alright, maybe that's a bit harsh. Make them swab the deck. :P Bottom line (since I believe a majority of the time, the moms are behind this)...stop doing this to your husbands & children.

We do coordinated t shirts for the first day.
At night I like our colours to be coordinated so that pictures look good (ex I wouldn't wear black and my husband navy) but that's just overly obsessive me :)

You see lots of it in the evening when the photographers are out.
It can also be useful on port days if you're all co-ordinated. If (heaven forbid) you were separated even for a moment (maybe in a crowded store or something), you could tell people, "They are wearing a shirt, just like mine."
