We are planning to try this for the first time in August...any suggestions or ideas if it is worth going too?!

thanks!

My family loves Coral reef. We have been there on our last two trips. Do not worry about getting a table up against the glass as many others are worried about. All the tables are in great view of the aquarium and we actually like sitting a few rows from the glass...it's much easier to see the sea life. Food was great too.

we love coral reef, been a few times and its always a great meal.
The food tastes really good. The service is sometimes slow though.
As pp said dont worry if you dont sit right next to tank, you get a great view whereever you are. :goodvibes

We have eaten there twice and have had great meals both times. It can be a bit pricey at dinner time so if you are unsure hit it at lunch. Its a very tranquil atmosphere and the kids loved seeing the sealife and the divers while we ate. If you are just looking for a good seafood dinner I high recommend Fulton's in Downtown Disney.

We've eaten at CR twice. The first time was great - it was our first night at Disney and the kids loved sitting by the tank. When we were there this past Dec. it was awful. Food, service and seating was bad. I think the restaurant is really inconsistent. Next time we will try Rose & Crown or Bier Garten for an Epcot dinner.
My favourite restaurants are Jiko and California Grill - both amazing!

I liked the atmosphere at Coral Reef, but believe it or not (as someone told me before I went) the steak is indeed better than the fish. I know you wouldn't expect that at a seafood restaurant, but I didn't care for the fish at all.

We passed on Coral Reef because if you don't get a table right in front of the tanks, it's not all that awesome of an experience. When we peeked in there, we commented on how it would kind of suck to be stuck way up at the top level, so far away from the tanks.

It looks really cool in there, but I just know I would be kind of harumphing inside if I was seated far away. So, we opted for 50's Prime Time and it doesn't matter where you are in there, it's just fun.

We are going to try it this trip. I am traveling with Mom and Sis this upcoming trip and told them to pick an Epcot restaurant - I totally figured they would pick something in the World Showcase, but they picked Coral Reef. I am excited to try it.

Does anyone know if you can request on your ADR to be close to the tanks?

You cannot request tank seating ahead. You can ask when you arrive but be prepared for a wait. This place is slow to seat even when you're willing to take any table. We've eaten here many times and I think the tables against the tank are the worst in the place.

We have experienced slow and not great service last 3 times, but love the atmosphere and steak. the first time we were in the back row booths did not see tank well, so we did request closer to the tank the last 2 times and was granted the request without having to wait extra. It was well worth the request for our 3 kids the views are amazing. this year Sept. we are diving in the tank so can't wait. If you love marine life give it a try worth the atmosphere once:thumbsup2

DH and I have eaten at Coral Reef 3 times and have sat in a different table each time. The first time we sat right by the window. The second we were in the middle section and the last time we sat in the top row. I think the middle section was the best for viewing the aquarium. By the window is to close and you can only see what is in front of you not the entire aquarium. The top section was ok for us but I think little ones would enjoy a lower section. The service and food have been very inconsistent. I have gotten the steak all 3 times. The first was very good as was the service, and last two times the steak was very tough. DH has had the mahi mahi all 3 times and enjoyed it. I sometimes feel since it is only the two of us that the servers tend to forget about us. I have felt this was at most of the restaurants.

Coral Reef is the only restaurant that is a must-do for us on every trip. We ate there the last three trips and had excellent food and service. I usually get the MahiMahi, which is my favorite (liked it better the old way, but it's still delicious), each time someone in our party gets the steak and it is an excellent steak, my son's favorite meal in all of Disney.

Coral Reef is my favorite WDW restaurant - we've eaten here the past 4 Septembers. I always get the steak and it has been excellent every time + I love the atmosphere with the aquarium view.

We went Last September and It was one of our Family's favorite Meals, If not THE Favorite! We went with a big group, and it was our Anniversary celebrations, and They brought us out champagne and strawberries!!
I got the Steak, it was really good. Althought it was not Hot... so if I had to do it again I would have told the server. My husband got the swordfish... he said it was really good. LOL, the kids got stuff too, but I can't remember at all what is was. maybe the mac and cheese... haha
We got Dessert, Hubby got the chocolate wave, YUM! And I got the Cream brulee! YUMM YUMM!! Lol
We left full and satisfied! :thumbsup2

I have pictures, But I can't seem to figure out how to post them. if anyone can help me out with that, that would be great! :)

We are thinking about going to Coral Reef, but I had heard that is has an "aquarium" odor in dining room and it may upset some people's stomach. Does it smell funny in the restaurant?

:) Never noticed the aquarium smell before. We have had good food and service when eating there. It is beautiful, and busy restaurant. It is quite noisy at times but overall a very nice experience.
