We have booked Coral Reef for dinner, but i'm just not sure.....Has anyone been lately, and how was it? Also DS (15) is a vegetarian.
We've also booked Ohana, Crystal Palace , H&V, San Angel, and Tony's Town Square and are looking forward to them. Any comments good or bad appreciated.

Thanks,

Lisa

We went to Coral Reef at Xmas as part of the CP package. It was ok but not sure if worth the $$ really. The best item was the pudding! Not a big fish fan so that probably didn't help.

We love CP and go there every trip (last time for breakfast). Always enjoy the food & characters there.:)

Can only comment on CP & San Angel
CP fab
San Angel not so keen, glad we did it for atmosphere but food very authentic mexican suppose i'm a picky eater!!

Coral Reef - we ate there in December and it was a great meal! I had the tuna which was delicious! the surroundings were amazing!! If you check in early and are prepared to wait you can usually ask for a window seat which is great!

Ohana - we love this place too! Its fun and friendly! The foods pretty decent too, not great but perfectly nice. Again if your lucky a window seats good!

Crystal Palace - We've been a few times now and had a great meal everytime! Foods yummy and the characters make it an entertaining meal!

San Angel - i really love this restaurant - especially if your luck enough to get seated by the water! its got a great atmosphere and the food is relly ncie too.

Ive not eaten at either of the others!

We ate at Coral Reef a couple of weeks ago. The first time we ate there (in 2003) I was disappointed, but it was our first day, so we were pretty tired and we had also imbibed of "Drinks around the World" with a bunch of US DISers, so we were a bit squiffy! :rotfl: This time I enjoyed it much more. I had the Pesto Risotto (with grilled portobello mushrooms, crumbled blue cheese and tomato-lemon grass broth topped with cripsy leeks). I'm not a vegetarian, but it was delicious. If there's any part of that your daughter wouldn't like, you can ask them to leave it out. When Laura refers to "window seats", I assume she means the tables right in front of the acquarium - there aren't any windows in the restaurant.

ETA. I meant to add that we ate at San Angel for the first time this trip. It's never appealled to me before, but we had to find a replacement for our Teppan Edo ADR (as it's currently being refurbished and the re-opening date has been put back). I was very pleasantly surprised. Although the food all looks a bit of a mess on the plate (I've always thought it looks more like fast food), I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere in the restaurant is far better than you might imagine if you've only ever viewed it from the boat ride.

Also, despite all the rave reviews it receives, 'Ohana had never been on my "to do" list. We tried it for the first time last October and, again, it was far better than I'd thought it would be. The lower my expectations, the more I seem to enjoy places. Maybe that's the key ;).

I know the Coral Reef gets a rough report in the Unofficial Guide but it's one of our fave WDW restaurants - the decor and atmosphere are pretty special and I've always loved the food. Last year we had a wonderful booth for 8 and spent the whole meal taking photos of the fish...

We had Christmas lunch at the San Angel Inn back in 1998 and so it's another special place for us. We have had indifferent food there but last time DD and I went, we loved it! Oh and the house margaritas are excellent! :thumbsup2

Not sure about Ohana's for a vegetarian - we stuck to the character breakfast (our fave one in WDW) last year, when we had a vegetarian in the party, as I don't think they even do the jumbo shrimp skewers anymore... :sad2:

We tried Coral Reef for the first time in May and really enjoyed it. Food was very good, portions were on the smaller side, we were fine with that as we were there for lunch. The restaurant is very atmospheric and you have a great view from all the tables.

Ohana' is definitely not a place for vegetarians as there are huge skewers of meat going past the table all the time! We haven't been there for a while. We prefer the Kona Café food wise.

H&V we really liked the buffet here, different stuff including chicken in red wine sauce, fresh and tasty. Desserts were mediocre though, although they do have a make your own sundae thing. Plenty for a veggie.

Tony's - did this one first time in May for lunch, weren't that impressed. My sandwich was ok, but DH's spaghetti was slightly reminiscent of school dinners ;) But I think they've changed the menu. It is sponsored by Buotoni, so don't expect "real" italian food.

All WDW restauarants will make an effort for a vegetarian, have it noted on your ADR's and mention it on check in.
