I really want to eat at this restaurant cause it just looks so neat but I have heard so many bad things about it. What is your honest opinion of this restaurant?

We have eaten there once, only not again due to the high price. I would definetely do it for lunch when the prices are cheaper. Its a cool, relaxing atmosphere, especially in the hot summer. We wanted a tankside table, but I think they only seat 4. I must admit I did get annoyed by some loud little darlings who kept shouting, putting their hands on the tank, obstructing our view a little etc. That is not the norm, it was just some bad parenting going on. Our ds didnt really like the seafood choices, but found something to eat off the kids menu. I had mahi mahi I think and the lobster bisque soup is fantastic. The desserts were cute too. I think one of the ds had a little blue plastic dolphin come out of the drink or dessert, I cant remember. The kids get a placemat that describes the aquatic life and they can look up at the fish tank to find the corresponding sea creature etc. It was a fun experience, just very expensive.

DH and I only ate their once as well. The atomosphere is nice, the prices are high and DH absolutely loved his tuna . . .

Honestly, I could take it or leave it . . .

I think you've answered your own question. If you really want to try it, 'just do it'! :)

Over the course of a year here, you'll see every restaurant get reviewed. Those reviews will range from

"Best place on Earth - God would eat here"
-to-
"At this place, even the maggots walk away from the table!"

my point is this: everyone has an opinion, including yourself. How do you know if you'd like anything in life without trying it? It is a neat place, go, and see what you think! And don't worry about what others might think!

Ate there once. Probably never again. Atmosphere was very nice. I thought the food was overpriced.

Yes, definitely try it once. Maybe just for dessert if you just want to sample the atmosphere. Their "chocolate wave" is really good. We were seated at a tankside table, and it was really cool. We also thought it was overpriced, but we are considering just going during a slow period for some coffee or desserts, just for the ambience!

I've seen all the bad reviews of it as well. But, we are going to "just do it!" (as a pp said! :) ) We're eating lunch there, so it won't be as pricey as dinner. I just think it'll be fun for my sons, and I've wanted to eat there since my first trip in 1983!!!! So I'm eating there darn it! LOL :earboy2:

I stopped eating at Coral Sea many years ago.

Coral Sea is always beautiful, peaceful, immaculate, and the service is good to excellent. But the menu started to read like gibberish: "Roasted urrabok in a light gerrikibble sauce, served with a side of lalaman chips topped with umbanaka dressing. Choice of either gembalemba salad or fries." Sorry, I don't understand any of that, and I won't pay $40 for a children's plate of Mac and Cheese just so I can eat there!

 Your post cracked me up! I needed a good laugh today.

Anyway I have also always wanted to eat there but most people seem to dislike the food. Well after reading this I'm going to book lunch there for our upcoming trip if not for the food, just to sit by the tank and see all the fish.

:flower1:

We had a wonderful lunch there. Yes the price was a little high but we had a seat right next to the tank - my kids , ages at that time were 10 and 13 had a wonderful time watching the scuba divers and looking at all the fish. It is someplace we would surley go again....not so much for the food but for the entertainment. No one fight between them the whole time we were there!!!!!!

I also have this penciled in for our next trip. DH really wants to try it, so we are going to do a lunch. I think you should try it at least once, right?

We've ate there several times and have always had great meals. IMO most of the negative reviews come from prices and not food quality. I never found the prices to be noticeably higher than comparable Disney Restaurant. Worth a try at least once just for the view.

We have eaten at the Coral Reef for lunch every visit for the past 15 years (about 7 times). It was always expensive but worth it. Yet we noticed that the past 2 visits that the lunch menu was very limited and the quality of the food was not as good (still a nice meal), but certainly not the way it had been in the past. The desserts were wonderful, but I think this time we'll try somewhere else for lunch.

I do think you will still enjoy it, though. The atmosphere is wonderful.

Oh, we really liked our dinner here.

I had a pasta dish with jumbo shrimp and black olives ~ it was kind of mediterranean flavoured.

My daughter had spaghetti & the peanutbutter playdoh.

We sat one row in from the tank wall, and I thought it was better than being too close so you can get a larger view. There was a a list of things to watch for in the tank that you could check off, like spotted turtles, certain types of fish etc.... half way through dinner a scuba diver came by and was waving at us :) he was doing summersaults and it was fun.

They also have a lot of those light up drinks ~ my daughter sure loves those glowing cubes

We have found over the years that the prices continue to spiral upward and the choices are starting to become limited and a little unusual {WillCAD, you hit the nail on the head!}. It is a high price to pay to see a giant aquarium.

PS: If it's seafood your after, we find Fultons crab house to be a better choice.

That was an awesome review!! LOL

Definately give it a try. It was our favourite meal last year!

The chocolate wave alone is worth a visit.

I don't know why this restaurant gets such bad press. We ate there for my birthday last year, and LOVED it. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but we felt it was worth it. The steak and lobster were WONDERFUL! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was top notch! Can't say enough about the birthday dessert, either. Now DD wants to go this year for her birthday... and I am definitely entertaining the thought! Oh, and the children's menu is no more expensive than any of the other restaurants in that price catagory.

I ate there a few years ago with my wife, who doesn't like seafood one bit. I loved the bisque, the meal was fine. My wife found some non seafood to eat. The main point is, how many times are you going to get a chance to eat in a location like this!?! We had seating right by the glass and it was AMAZING!. They could have served me fish sticks for $50 and I still would have thought it to be a good deal overall.

Can someone please describe the chocolate wave? I know DD would love to aet here, but we're not seafood fans, but a great chocolate dessert sounds nice.
