On the 3rd day of our trip, my parents are meeting us at Epcot. They are taking an early flight (6:30am departure from their home city) and they should be in WDW by 10:00am. I have a reservation at Teppan Edo at 12:20pm. We have dined here before and know what to expect.

DH wants to try Coral Reef. I've read a lot of bad reviews (bad service AND food), however, I'm intrigued by the ambiance of this restaurant. The menu looks ok, nothing stand out and nothing that says "ORDER ME!" LOL.

So, would you stick with Teppan Edo, go for Coral Reef or just take it easy and plan on a quick service lunch in World Showcase?

Thanks!

If they arrive when you think they will, sitck with Teppan Edo. Coral Reef is OK, but I liked the 'show' at Teppan more than the fish in the tank.

I would stick with Teppan Edo.

Like you, I also wanted to try Coral Reef for the ambiance. And let me say - the "ambiance" is loud, crowded, and not worth the mediocre food. I remember as a kid seeing the Full House episode where it was dim, candlelit, and quiet with nice music in the background - that was a lie....haha

We hardly even noticed the aquarium because we were straining to listen to eachother because it was so loud.

I feel like Teppan Edo is one of the few places left in the World that is unique. There is a "show" built into the meal and you can not find a different variation of the food in the next restaurant you visit. So, I would stick with that.

i liked teppan edo more than coral reef. if i could get a guaranteed table next to the tank then i would eat at coral reef. their steak looks good too. if you are going in aug or sept or oct you may want to try the new italian and mexican restaurant. i think i'll be changing our adrs for the new ones if i can get in!

Well, I guess I'm going against the grain here. If you can get an ADR at Coral reef first thing like 11:30 am, you will have a great experience. At that hour the staff is fresh and personally I would choose CR over Teppan Edo for lunch. It's also easier to get to than TE, which is a long a*s walk, if you come in the front gate. Your parents might appreciate not having to hoof it fast and furious if they've just arrived by plane, anyhow just my 2 cents, you will know best what works for you!

The food at the Coral Reef wasn't bad, but it is also not great. The big draw for us is the views. If you are more into the food, then I would stick with TE

Coin toss for us we like both the food and show at Teppan Edo are great. The food some of it anyway is great at Coral Reef and best dining view of any spot in Epcot. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

I had not hear of new restaurnats... do tell! popcorn::

Contrary to what I've read we have had great service and meals at Coral Reef BUT our family really likes Teppan Edo as well. I think you can't go wrong either way with this one.

I prefer Coral Reef to Teppan Edo, despite the inconsistent reviews. I agree with the general sentiment about the service at the podium. I have waited at least 20 minutes for a table every time I have eaten there, which is unusual in my experiences with Disney restaurant.

I actually like the food there, especially the lobster soup and the mahi mahi entree. My parents rave about the salmon as well.

We like both. I would go with Coral Reef b/c I don't feel as clautrophobic in there. If you get one of the small rooms at Teppan Edo, like we did last time we ate there, it feels very cramped. But, maybe a small room would work for your family?

We are Coral Reef fans, if I don't make an ADR for it on every trip we regret it. We have a very nice Hibachi style restaurant where we live that Teppan Edo can't live up to.
