Coral Reef or san angel...

Hey there - im doing san angel this week - if you want I can let ya know how it is when i get back!!! I have been to coral reef a long time ago and i remember we didn't like it at all!! I remember it being very expensive and definately overrated in my opinion!!

I would choose Coral Reef just because we went to San Angel Inn last year, and I thought the food was disappointing. The chips tasted like Tostitos, and the salsa tasted like it was made from canned tomatoes. I am a chip snob--I don't need real food, just bring on the chips, salsa, guacamole, and some drinks. I don't remember what I had as an entree, but I didn't eat most of it.

On the bright side, I liked the ceviche appetizer and the atmosphere was wonderful (we sat right by the river across from the pyramid). Service was slow, but friendly.

I would go to San Angel Inn again, but with lowered expectations. From what I've heard about Coral Reef, I think it might be similar in the sense that it's about the atmosphere rather than the food.

We ate at Coral Reef a few weeks ago and it was very good. The steak was awesome! So was the dessert, the chocolate wave. I can't comment on San Angel, sorry........

Coral Reef. We ate at San Angel last summer and it was fine, but not great food. We enjoyed ourselves but not enough to go back again.

I suggest you look at the menus. I mostly eat fish and though I love San Angel's atmosphere there isn't anything on the menu I eat. I also think CR was expensive, not sure about SA pricing.

We just ate at San Angel Inn a few weeks ago. The atmosphere was wonderful, however my DGD2 had a meltdown at the 8:30 dinner. (SORRY EVERYONE WHO WAS THERE!!) Our waiter was great, too. The menu is limited, so check it out to see if there is anything you might like. We enjoyed our meals (except for my DD28, who is very picky).

I have never been to Coral Reef, so I can't help there.

Coral Reef!!!! we ate at san angel and i personally thought the food was disgusting. we ate at coral reef the last day of the trip and it was awesomely awesome! try the steak!

They are Tostitos! When we ate there last December, they had them for sale in the bag near the registers. Lucky for me - those are my favorite chips! Unfortunately that was the only thing we liked about the food - we are a family of four and love Mexican food (authentic or not) and we will never go back.

i couldnt decide between the two, so have a lunch adr at 12 for san angel inn and a dinner adr at 8.40 for coral reef. were going out to universal, seaworld ect so can afford to use two ts in one day :)

:lmao: Oh that cracked me up. I like Tostitos too, but I expect a Mexican restaurant to fry its own chips.

We were just there last week and while I can't recommend Coral Reef -- I can say that San Angel Inn was the only restaurant of the 8 TS that we had that we were disappointed with. The service was terrible and the food was beyond mediorce.

We absolutley LOVE San Angel Inn. Honestly, the food is not anything to write home about, but it's not bad either. The atmosphere does it for us. We always try to not pick it for a dinner every time we go, but we just can't help ourselves.

We have been to Coral Reef and didn't like it at all. Sure, the aquarium was cool, but that was about it.

These are two totally different restaurants, so check out their menus and go from there. IMHO, the atmosphere at San Angel Inn can't be beat!!!

I have to agree with the PP --- the only thing that saved our meal there last week was the atmosphere --- I love it in there and we had a fabulous railing side seat and got to stare at the pyramid and the volcano and watch all of the Gran Fiesta boats go by :)
