Hi Everybody
I would like to have your opinion on which restaurant you would help me choose. I already made my ADR's for August with free dining. I have an ADR for the Coral Reef on August 16th., last night I looked over the menu at allearsnet website and there really is not alot to choose from with fish dinners, such as lobster, shrimp, crab. My family and I love fish and we were hoping to find those on the menu. I do love the idea of having dinner while we're able to watch the fish in their tanks, but we really wanted more of a variety of fish dinners to choose from thats why I chose this restaurant. We can skip the fish dinner on this trip it's not that important. As I was browsing the menu section last night, I noticed the Garden Grill. I know it does not offer fish but, the food sounds good. I don't know anything about this restaurant and was hoping someone can tell me about it and give me their opinions. I didn't know it was family style, which is great. My question is which restaurant would you choose? Coral Reef or The Garden Grill? Thanks so much and sorry this is so long that I gave you all eye strain ;)
Have a great day! Connie :dumbo:

There's really no comparison between the Coral Reef and the old Good Turn restaurant. It's kinda like fine dining versus Sizzler. Sizzler is very popular and a a lot of people love it, but its not a fair comparison.

That said, if you love fish and you're planning to be in Epcot, might I suggest the Flying Fish at the Boardwalk or Blue Zoo in the Dolphin? Both are within walking distance of the International Gateway in Epcot.

We loved our dinner at Garden Grill on Monday. The characters were great. The food was great!! They had fried catfish, which was very good. It was one of our favorites. Awesome desserts too!!

Connie,

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Coral Reef. I have heard of many others who do not like the Coral Reef (and many who do as well). The atmosphere is just SO relaxing. It is truly like stepping away from everything for a bit. It's just so nice and calming. Watching the shark, sting rays, fish and the sea turtle swim by is just so peaceful and so much fun. I have three ds (9,6 and 5) and all three of them love it. Also, the shrimp cocktail there is BEYOND GOOD! I have dreams of eating that shrimp cocktail...however, it is sometimes the only shrimp on the menu...which I can understand being a minus. However, it is SO good that I would eat there and only eat shrimp cocktail (two orders would make a meal for me at least). They have very good fish fish offerings...no, it's not lobster or shrimp BUT they are very good!

BUT...we also love eating at the Garden Grill. We love the characters and the fact that the resturant revolves! Also, last time we were there at least we had fried catfish as part of the meal I and I believe that is still on the menu. If you love Chip and Dale and Mickey and Pluto this is a great character meal. The atmosphere is fun and interesting and inviting. It's a great character meal and our second favorite Epcot eatery...right behind the Coral Reef ;).

All of that said...I would keep my Coral Reef ADR...and make a second one at the Garden Grill. On our next trip we are going to dine twice at each of those resturants. (WE LOVE SIT DOWN MEALS...it's our break time in the day to rest our weary little selves without heading all the way back to the hotel).

Either choice is a good one. Whichever one you end up going with, I am sure you will be happy! Enjoy yourself! :sunny:
