Coral Reef or Garden Grill Dinner?

Can't decide... Coral Reef kinda gives me the Rainforest Cafe feel... although I would think the food would be better. WWYD?

I absolutely hate having to say this about a Disney Restaurant but the food is AWFUL. Boring, bland, and and overpriced, don't waste your money. The only thing good about it is the fishtank which you can see in the aquarium for free. I have't heard any good reviews on it either so I know I'm not crazy haha.

I agree with above post. We do GG almost every time and are heading back this year too!

We chose Garden Grill this time. We've never been to either. Coral Reef didn't really appeal because we aren't big seafood eaters. It used to get rave reviews a few years ago.
We aren't expecting gourmet fare from GG, just an edible meal and some time with the characters. The kids are excited to meet them

I love the food at Coral Reef. To me, it's one of the best restaurants in all of Disney. My meals there in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 have been particularly stellar. I always order the grilled mahi mahi with jasmine rice or the grilled New York strip steak. Both entrees are outstanding. I also like the appetizers, especially the crab cakes and also the grilled shrimp with cucumber salad & BBQ beef skewer. My sister loved her steamed mussels appetizer and jumbo sea scallops.

The last two times, we have dined right next to the aquarium and had the giant sea turtle sleeping by our window. Occasionally a scuba diver will swim by, too. It is wonderful. The portion sizes are small, so if you are looking to fill up that may disappoint you. But we LOVE it!

We ate there in 2008 and thought it was one of our favorites. The kids love watching the fish. Even if you arent seated right at the window- they can go down to the front and gaze.

Look for the Coral Reef thread somewhere on here, if you are planning far enough ahead, you can contact the restaurant and have a custom menu designed! I did this for my family in 2008 and they were thrilled. We had several family pics on the menu with our names on it. Also- you can sometimes have the divers hold up name cards in the tank for a birthday or anniversary etc. Again you have to have time to plan this ahead.

Wow, that sounds really neat! We'll be on the dining plan so I'm not too worried about little food... I know we're going to fill up at other places. Thanks for the tip about the menu, I'll have to check if they still offer that!

I personally really love both the food and atmosphere at Coral Reef. We really enjoyed it the last time we ate there. Having never been to GG can't offer a good comparison though.

I have been to both numerous times. If I had to only pick one it would be Garden Grill. The atmosphere is really cool and the food is good. The character interaction here is always top notch.
