Coral Reef or Cape May?

We like seafood, especially snow crab and shrimp. We have an ADR at Coral Reef, but after reading that Cape May has snow crab, I wonder if we should change our ADR. Looks like it would be a quick, pleasant boat ride over to Cape May.... or is that not true? Are the snow crabs plentiful?
The aquarium was the main reason I made the Coral Reef ADR and that is certainly still a factor. The problem is that we need to stay longer than a week so I can try all of these restaurants (LOL!).:rotfl2:
Bottom line: Which do you prefer and why?

We have tried both and I prefer Cape May Cafe. I assume when you say "short boat ride" you mean from EPCOT or DHS? That is true for both of them. In fact I would just walk from EPCOT. The aquarium is very nice at Coral Reef but I honestly don't think the restaurant is anything to write home about.

Yes, we would want to go the day that we were at EPCOT. Then, we'd go back to EPCOT after we eat and tour more.

Yes, it is a pleasant boat ride or walk from EPCOT. It is truly a beautiful resort and worth the trip over just to see it. That whole are with Beach and Yacht Club and Boardwalk is lovely!

You can see the aquarium just from visiting the Living Seas pavilion.

We have loved Coral Reef in the past but on our last trip it was horrible. I couldn't eat my meal it was so bad. I have not been to Cape May but we have reservations in November and I can not wait. From the research I've done, it used to get iffy reviews but has since improved tremendously. I'm excited to try it.

We have never dined at Cape May but are planning on it on our up coming trip. We have dined at Coral Reef and did not care for the food at all.

We ate at Coral Reef last year and it was our best meal of the entire trip (it even beat LeCellier!), however we didn't have seafood. DH and I both had the NY strip, it was more flavorful and better prepared than the filet at LeCellier (not that LeCellier was bad- it was very good but we liked Coral Reef's steak better).

We had breakfast at Cape May and it was very fresh. I really liked the decore of this restaurant - it was very "beachy".

I think if you really want basic seafood CM would be a better choice. We felt that the seafood at CR was a bit too fancy for our taste. We live on the Jersey shore and eat a lot of fresh seafood here - but mostly your basic - broiled, scampi, stuffed etc.

I did have some of the best Crabcakes at the Captains Grille!

Its kind of like comparing apples to oranges. You would think that Coral Reef would be a good seafood restaurant, but when you look at the menu, the seafood options are very limited. The atmosphere is awesome, but it can be very noisy, and the service has often gotten no so great reviews. We ate there on our last two trips, but I am wanted to try some different spots this time, and CR just did not make the cut. If it weren't for the aquarium, it would be just ok.

I have only eaten at Cape May for breakfast, but dinner is a buffet. Most of the reviews have been very positive lately, and the menu is definitely more "beachy." I am not big on "all you can eat buffets," but that is just me. If you like the idea of the crab legs, I would say it is definitely worth the trip from EPCOT over to BC. The resort is awesome, and it is a nice boat ride at night.

Have a great trip!
