Okay, this is going to reveal me to be the total weirdo that I am  but I have a question about Coral Reef...

I have a fish "phobia" :scared1: for lack of a better word. They truly gross me out, freak me out, the way spiders, snakes, or mice (Mickey excluded, of course) do for other people. I CANNOT eat near a fish tank. Just can't. And I'd rather starve than eat seafood.

:rotfl2: So, would the Coral Reef be out of the question for me?:rotfl2:

I can handle aquariums, I even enjoyed myself at the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN, cuz it was a cool place. I can also handle the Rainforest Cafe, as long as I am not right next to the fish tanks. Is there a way to be in the restaurant and position myself so I am not staring into the lifeless eyes of nasty, squiggly fish? Are the fish disgusting, brown, lake fish or the pretty (if you can call a fish pretty), colorful, tropical fish?

I am only considering this place because I know my kids would LOVE it. The things we do for our kids, huh?

Funnily enough, can you believe Finding Nemo is my favorite Disney movie? :rotfl: It's true. I guess don't mind cute cartoon fish. :lmao:

If anyone has a picture of the inside of the restaurant that would be so helpful!

Thanks for any input.

If you really have a problem, then you need to skip this restaurant. The tank is viewable from everywhere in the place. The kids can see the same fish in the Seas pavilion. The fish are tropical in nature.

You will also most likely want to skip this whole area. Maybe let someone else take the kids in.

Also, don't ride Living with the Land in Epcot either.

You have a very strange phobia.

 Yes, I know it's weird. I'm weird! I'll be able to handle the Seas just fine, I'm sure. I want to ride the clammobile! I just worry about eating near fish tanks, since fish gross me out. If they are tropical, it won't be so bad.

Good grief. I am sounding stranger by the minute! :rotfl2:

I just don't want my kids to miss out on a neat experience because their mother is a nutjob.

Well when we ate there we had a shark in view like the whole time and he was mean looking lol.....the sea turtle was awesome though.

Yep, it's really set up so that wherever you are you can see the tank, and it's not cute little neon tropical fish. There are some good non-fish dinner options, but you really will be seeing the tank wherever you go.

Don't feel bad...there are so many other neat experiences that the kids will have, if they miss this one you'll do something else that's neat!

There are 3 tiers of seating in the restaurant. I've only been there once, and was seated in the 3rd tier. We were sitting probably a good 40-50 feet from the tanks, and since we were so far away, really paid them no attention. You could always go and tell the hostess you don't want to be seated on the first tier, and i'd imagine you'd be fine!

I agree with mystew99-you can get some distance between you and the tanks-and if you sit para not perpendicular to the tanks you can"ignore" them. Plus since most people WANT to sit as close to the tanks as possible, your request should be pretty easy to accommodate! LOL

Don't worry -we are ALL WEIRD in our own way. Have a great time and give yourself tons of MOM points for even considering doing something so uncomfortable for the sake of your kids enjoyment!

:thumbsup2
