During all of my trips to Disney World-I have never eaten at the Coral Reef. I'm going in December (14-20) with my DH, DD 11 and DS 4. We were planning to do a morning at Epcot Future World, (Soarin, Turtle Talk, (plus new ride that will be opened in Living Seas?), Spaceship Earth & Maybe Test Track) lunch and then back to the hotel to relax before we go to MVMCP!

Anyhow, I though that a lunch at Coral Reef might be a great way to end the morning-start the afternoon-the setting sounds really amazing!!!(Is it as lovely as it sounds?)

I know my kids would love being near the tank but am I correct that you can't request this when you make reservations-you have to do it when you check in?

Also the menu seems a little limited-I think I'll be Ok (I love seafood-is it just me or is there a certain irony at watching the tank while eating fish? lol) and DH (loves catfish)-do they change it time to time or ever have specials?

Which desserts are winners-I already know my son will be in heaven at the prospect of making his own sundae! :mickeyjum

Thanks for any input.

you can ask for a table next to the tank but there are no guarantees. personally, i think the three rows of seating that don't touch the tank are better views. I was seated in row 3 (of 4) and when I go back this year I'll be requesting that row again. We had a circular booth table right in the center of the room, facing the tank. I personally think it was best seat in the house.

The Coral Reef is one of my favorites. I think y'all will enjoy it. True, you can't request a specific table ahead of time; but it will make little difference where you sit in any case. One entire wall of the restaurant is aquarium glass, with a good view of the fish. The tables are arranged in tiers with the smaller tables near the glass wall, and the larger tables in back, away from the glass. It seems to me that the tables for a party of four are somewhere in the middle. Not to be concerned, wonderful view from all locations in this restaurant.

As for the menu, if you don't see what you want for the younger ones, just ask the waiter. They probably field many such requests daily.

Enjoy.

They have a Strip Steak and a Prime Rib as well as a few seafood options! I think your little ones will like it. They also have a great kids menu.
