So I have heard something about a diver coming to wave or show attention to your table at the coral reef. That is pretty much all I have heard though, anyone have any info about this? Such as what exactly is it? Does it cost?

You need to call Coral Reef and speak with management about it. It is a free service and they will create a small sign for the diver to put up against the glass while you are dining. They will only have 3 divers during the lunch period and 4 divers during the dinner period, so times are limited. You need to let them know the day and time you will be dining. You can also email them pics and they will create personalized menus for the family all for free!!

I'm excited about this if we decide to eat at Coral Reef in September. I think the kids would just love it! I hear that its pretty limited though, so I would call asap. :)

Where do you email pictures for the free personalized menus? Is this only for those who reserve a diver to stop by, or is this open to everyone?

From a previous thread.

"The number to reserve the diver is 407-560-6636, if you need the restaurant itself for any reason it's 407-560-6784. You will need to have your ADR already, as they will ask for the confirmation # to check availability for the diver at your ADR time. Then you tell them what to put on the paper, and that's it."

There was also a recent thread with rumors that the diver would be discontinued at the beginning of the year. If you call and find otherwise then please post and let everyone know.

I'm not sure yet if we will do the diver thing, but I am curious about the personalized menus and how that works if anyone knows anything about that.

If I do call about the diver though I will certainly post any info I find out for you guys.

We did both the diver and personalized menus back in September. It turned out great!

For the personalized menus (and the diver, if you want both), you call the restaurant directly. I believe the number was given a few posts up. When I called, no one answered, so I left a message. Yvette, a manager, called me back the next day.

She gave me her e-mail address and told me to send some pictures (she said no more than four because of space issues) and what I wanted the menu and the diver banner to say. It was very quick and easy.

She never sent me an e-mail back, but everything turned out perfect. It was kept as a surprise, and they even sat us next to the tank! It certainly was special. :goodvibes

If you have anymore questions, just ask!

BTW, most people who have contacted CR were told that the diver sign would be discontinued or would become a paid service next year, so I think you might have to wait and see. But the menus are still free.

1) They are not taking any diver requests for 2008.
2) It has not been determined if they will
. . . cancel the program
. . . charge for the program
3) The divers have tank-duties.
4) Signs were just a nice guest feature.
5) With the internet, there are too many requests.
6) THe divers can't get there assigned work done inside the tank.

It was once a special occasion, witnessed once in a while but with dining going mainstream with the various plans coupled with an increasing number people thinking they should request a diver sign, it has clearly become a negative component to the atmosphere of the restaurant too. Seeing a diver present 3-5+ signs during your dinner ...:sad2:

When we were there last March, there seemed to be a bunch of people diving in the aquarium that may have paid for that experience. There were maybe 6+ divers in the tank. Some came by and waved, none had a note or anything, but it was cool to see them interact with the fish!

Coral Reef was a great place to eat. The best mahi mahi!

Yes, there is a program called, "Disney Dive Quest", which certified scuba divers pay (about $140) to dive in the Living Seas. They have 2 sessions every evening.
