Coral Reef-Dessert Only???

My kids would really like to eat at the Coral Reef, but I haven't seen many complimentary reviews of this restraunt. I was wondering if any of you had gone there for dessert only? I was thinking of having lunch somewhere else and then going to the Coral Reef as a mid aftrenoon break for dessert. Any thoughts or suggestions?!

We are doing just that! I already have my ADR's for 2:30 in the afternoon. We're going to have our counter service somewhere else, buy I wanted my dgd (3 1/2) to be able to have dessert by the fish tanks. We didn't really want to eat there. My daughter really wanted to eat at Mexico, so we're having lunch there at 11:30. Since we're going in August, we thought it would be a nice break from the heat. Someone posted that the chocolate wave from there is delicious. Have a great time!!!

DH and I really enjoy the meals at the Coral Reef. The salmon and the filet are both really good.

I've read many terrible reviews of it myself, but i can't count how many times I've eaten there now . . . it's my favorite restaurant at the parks. However, it is quite expensive and if seafood is common in your area, I would say skip it for a meal (being in the middle of nowhere, it's a treat for us! ). I've heard that it's very easy to walk into for a snack around 2:30-4, and yes, the Chocolate Wave is phenominal.

So.. Is not a great idea have dinner there?? my family and I want to eat fish and I can´t find another place in the parks to do that... (except I think Rainforest café) but I want to know why is not a good option... is really that expensive? not to good?

I think they may have lowered the prices but my family of 4 spent around $165.00 if I remember correctly and walked away hungry. The portions were very small. This was last April. The kids didn't like the food, and we were on the last tier (not a good view of the tank for the kids) We went back to our resort and ordered room service. Our only disappointment at WDW.

I have heard a great deal of reviews that were really bad about a great many places on WDW property. I have learned to glean the menu on line for myself and take the reviews with a grain of salt. Between the reviews and the menu as well as my personal tastes, I have easily been able to tell whether there was a good chance that me and the family would like any particular place. Will this place BLOW YOU AWAY!!! NO. Is it good....yes. I have heard it compared to Red Lobster. It certainly is not like that. I eat at Red Lobster. It is not horrible but I know what to expect. Coral Reef is much better. Portion size is fairly small. It is somewhat expensive but not out of bounds for WDW.

You certainly can go for desert only. No problems with that at all. I have seen many people do this. I would urge you to try this place for the food but at lunch when the prices are lower.
