Does Coral Reef do anything special anymore for anniversaries or is it just for birthdays now? I just booked CR for an early dinner and want to surprise DH with it all.

I was told they don't do the divers anymore and they only have a centerpiece for birthdays. I'm shocked they don't have anything for anniversaries since Disney's whole scheme is "celebrations" this year.

I ate there earlier this month for my anniversary. It was noted on our reservation and I also told our server, but nothing was done. We did have a great seat next to the tank, but nothing else. I was somewhat dissappointed abot that. The food was excellent, though, so that made up for it.

We were there for our honeymoon. Like emm, no real special treatment. Not even confetti. We didn't even get so lucky to have a good table - we were up on the back tier.

The divers were only for a limited time (ok, it was two years) as a part of the year of a million dreams. I can see why they would want it to be something special and not done all of the time.... but it was neat.

back in Sept 07 for our 25th anniversary, I arranged for the diver and sent photos and copy for the personalized menu. The divers alone were such a wonderful touch (they're hardly visible in the photo - but they were holding the sign and also tossing rose petals in the tank). Coral Reef sat us at the tank, gave us champagne and a free dessert. It was really special. (I also ordered tuxedo strawberries.) DH was overwhelmed.

I was so sorry to hear that they discontinued this. Happy anniversary! At least you'll be celebrating in the most magical place in the world. :goodvibes

There are plenty of things you can have done if you are willing to pay for them. Disney has really cut down on a lot of those 'magical' things that just happened. I 'think' that because of boards like these, people found out how many fun things other people were getting, they wanted them and started to expect them. When 'magic' didn't happen, they were disappointed and let Disney know that nothing 'special' happened for them on their special day.
There are too many variables with 'magic'....will it happen every time it is needed? Will a CM drop the ball? Will a guest change their mind and not show up for a particular meal?
I just think that we all have come to expect so much when we go to WDW. But there is no way that Disney is going to be able to give that special one on one magic to every person who deserves it.
Much better to just make your own magic.

I agree with this 100%. Here are some ideas I've found for making your own magic. Some may be out of date, some may be too expensive but some are just right.
