We are looking for opinions regarding these 4 restaurants for our upcoming trip. We are DW, DS (9), DDS (twins 6) and me. We will be going 1/27 - 2/04. Thanks.

Coral Reef was our one DISAPPOINTMENT. I have heard they lowered prices recently. The portions for dinner are very small. I am 120 pounds, my husband is 190 pounds. We went back to the Poly and ordered room service after around a $160 dollar bill! Our children didn't like anything. We were unable to get a seat near the aquarium, that may have helped. We had ADR's with that request too. My family will never eat there for dinner again. I have heard better things about lunch. Hope this helps.

Folks seem to both love Coral Reef and hate Coral Reef. Meanwhile, Flying Fish almost always gets very high grades, especially from folks who love seafood. Akershus is no longer what it used to be, and doesn't compare to Flying Fish or Coral Reef, now -- it's basically a character meal, so the food is nothing specia (though your twins might love it). I've heard so much bad about Alfredo's, consistently, year-after-year, since it opened, that is remains one of the very few restaurants at WDW that I've never visited.

Just a suggestion but almost everyone, including myself, seems to love 'Ohana. Chef Mickey's for dinner gets great reviews too, we are trying that one this time. Good luck, and I'm sure where ever you EAT won't make or break your trip!

ALFREDO's ALFREDO's ALFREDO's - It's our favorite - we LOVE it.

We enjoy the Flying fish, I'm not a fish fan but the other menu options have been good, my wife and son have loved their meals. The staff has always been good.

Alfredo's we have tried three time and all three not enjoyed it at all. Noisy, crowded, and average Italian food at best in our opion. Maybe I'm spoiled due to all the good Italian home cooking including the pasta.

Akershus we did for lunch and is was good. Have not been to Coral reef in many years and that was lunch.

I agree with the others, Coral Reef was absolutely terrible - the worst meal we've had at Disney. Unruly atmosphere, tiny portions (I don't say that lightly), bland food, poor service, and high prices for that whole package. We're no stranger to paying high prices for high quality food and service, but Coral Reef was neither of those.

Alfredo's is at the bottom of our list as well. The food wasn't anything special, the atmosphere was like a cattle house (tables too close together), and the waiters are pushy, trying to upsell everything.

Akershus was one of our favorites until it went to a character meal, now we're not sure we'll go back.

We haven't been to Flying Fish yet, but I hear nothing but good things about it.

Count me as one who LOVES Coral Reef. Had my first meal there in October and thought it was the best meal of my trip and I don't eat seafood! Had caesar salad, steak, & the chocolate wave for dessert. Was pleasantly full, not stuffed like at other WDW food stops, and will definitely make it a must do on future trips.

We dined at Coral Reef for the first time in November and loved it...the atmosphere was great and the food was excellent.

Alfredo's is always on our list of dining. We have never had a bad experience there....the food is always wonderful as is the service.

I would highly recommend both....I haven't tried the other 2. :wave2:

Coral Reef, Akershus, Flying Fish and Alfredo's ....

We have been to all 4, but Coral Reef is the only one we haven't had a fairly recent visit to. When we went, it was excellent, but that was quite a while ago.

On the other hand...the other three you mentioned are some of our favorites. You can't go wrong with any of them.

We love Flying Fish. I've posted this before but I had the best restaurant meal of my life there yet. Not only was the food great but the service was just right. Yachtsman during our last trip was close(for food only, service was...bizarre, I think our server was drunk :confused3 ) but I love Flying Fish. They have a great steak that one of my brothers got instead of the fish. Don't miss the peeky toe crab cakes for appetizers either! Mmmm.

I have been to all of these restuarants within the past two months.

Coral Reef: We really liked this. The mahi was fresh and delicious. My sis had a trout special that she did not care for (bland). I thought the portions were fine. The kids meals were fine. Service was outstanding. My nephew was being difficult and the waiter was a real pro about it. Would definitely return.

Flying Fish: Excellent. I really like the feel of the room at FF. Excellent service again. Very fresh fish, lots of choices. Good wine list. We eat here most every trip.

Alfredos: Just OK. We tried the antipasto (good), the pasta sampler, and the alfredo. The tomato sauce on the sampler was way too sweet for our tastes. My DH liked the alfredo, but I could not eat it--way too rich, and I love cream, butter, cheese, etc. Service was good and the room is nicely decorated. The tables are a little close together, but not too bad. I would go back if someone in my party really wanted to, but it would not be my first choice.

Akershus (Princess Storybook dinner): First course is a buffet of cold items--salads, meats, cheeses, breads, etc. There are a few Norweigan dishes, various herrings and native goat cheese. Most of the buffet offerings are pretty basic. The entrees were fine, nothing spectacular, though the poritions are way too large. The room is nice and there is good space around the tables. The princess interaction is brief but good. I would do it again if the kids wanted to go, but otherwise not.

It is amazing and wonderful how generous everyone is with their time and the sharing of information. I continue to read all of the posts and it adds to the excitement of our trip planning. Thanks for sharing.
