seeing the many different ways that people watermark their photos I decided to do some research to see what is the proper way to mark copyright

this is what I found.

PROPER FORMAT FOR DISPLAY OF COPYRIGHT NOTICE
There are three ways to display a copyright notice:

© 1991, (Creator's Name)
Copyright 1991, (Creator's Name) ⌐
Copr. 1991, (Creator's Name)

Although all three are acceptable it is generally thought that © 1991, (Creator's Name) is the most widely recognized in the international community.

on a pc if you hold the alt button and hit 0169 and then release the alt button you will get the symbol as well ©

thanks for adding that info,

I just copied this info directly from the site where I found it..

I use "watermark professional"...for doing my pics and it has the symbol,

great software makes watermarks really simple, and allows a wide latitude of styles..

And if you hold the alt and 167 you get the º sign which added to 0 and another alt 167 gives you this: º0º Mickey

Sorry, I couldn't resist, and it's great to know the alt 169 symbol.

Thanks for posting this. Now we just need a tutorial on how to add a copywrite, or watermark to photos, which I have no idea how to do. I mean I know how to add text, but I like the watermark looking ones better.

I use watermark professional it is great software that allows me to batch watermark and resize all in one step, which saves time when processing a few hundred pics for upload to my website

Or you could put this as your copyright on your disney photos: º©º

(I just couldn't resist) :rotfl:

º0º = º©º

I didn't realize that they put the copyright symbol between the º º before.

Thanks, I will look into that.

Is there anyway to make the symbols with a laptop or a macbook? The alt and #'s(across the top) don't seem to work on my Dell. There must be a way to use the #'s on the J,K,L,U,I,O,7,8,9 keys- but how?
Thanks:)

If you can find your character map it will tell you what to type in on your specific computer to get special symbols. I have vista now and it is under the list of programs on the start up menu, under accessoires, then system tools.

It looks like this.

Then you click on the character you want to copy and you can use the copy tool at the bottom, be sure to set your font at the top.

If you find the num lock on your laptop, and hit that button, thenthere will be a 10 key setup on your keyboard that becomes active on mine J = 1 U = 4 etc.... so hold down the alt button and use the 10key and it should work.

RAPD (rec.arts.parks.disney) used a º@º symbol for their logo and sold buttons (at cost, as I recall) for members to wear at the parks. Disney told them the buttons were infringing on the Disney copyright and could not be worn in the parks.

Some corporations are working on copyrighting colors!

Thanks for the info. I found the character map. The num lock doesn't seem to work-DD spilled applejuice on the keyboard over the summer. It hasn't been right since:(
