I have a solid state video camera (video goes straight to SD card) and although I'm taking 5gb of card storage with me I'm looking to take a lot of video. I've heard there are outlets at AK and MGM whereby you can copy your SD card to a CD, does anybody know how much this costs and if videos (MP4) copy as well as photos?

I'm taking a seperate still camera and have about 2.5gb capacity on this (1000 photos), I'm a bit trigger happy when it comes to photos so I'm thinking I may transfer from my CF too, are both "standards" covered by this service?

If anybody has used this service please give me the low-down....

cheers mickey ears!!!!

If you have a laptop would it not be better to take this and upload your photo's on to it each day before bedtime?

We took ours to DLP and found it great being able to upload the hundreds of photo's and video clips and then empty the camera again ready for the next day. :thumbsup2

Don't have a laptop that works, pesky DH turned it into a server on his network for training purposes, but as I type he is in my ear about a Sony one he's seen that he fancies for 500.00.
Wonder if I can get him to purchase in the next 8 days.........:stir:

I used both these sites several years ago (2001 I think). They were definitely doing last year. But I've used Walgreens (Chemist) instead for the last few years as a lot cheaper. Depends where you're stopping, whether you have car etc-when we stayed on 192 Walgreens was just outside Hotel, perhaps you can check their website for locations-there were plenty about though. I'm sure I've read that Disney aren't printing photos anymore but the 'camera shops' are still copying to disc.

Do you have a decent MP3 player with a large harddrive. You could use this to download your files onto, clear your card and start over. I have a 60gb Toshiba Gigabeat (if you have an Ipod you could use this but you'll have to pay large £'s to get all your add-ons) and I recently bought an 80 gb Archos 704 wifi. These are easier to carry than lugging around a laptop with you, and they fit easily into the room safe.

Having said that, with the price of SD cards these days it'll probably be cheaper to buy these as you need them in Florida - less space and far less weight to carry.:thumbsup2
