Copper Creek Walkers

Historically Disney had never blocked out Thanksgiving week from lower tier APS, though. This is the first year they’ve done so. So I think it’s fair for owners who have FWs over Thanksgiving who no longer get discounts on top level APs, and who could historically used Gold/Sorcerers Pass, to be upset at this change, especially when having paid a premium for a fixed week. For our family, we’re talking about a difference of $2,470.80 from 2020 to 2021 to go the parks now during my fixed week.
Exactly my point ! I now have to either move my fixed week that I payed a premium for or upgrade another $400 a pass to get the Incredipass . Actually when I got to DW on 11/20 I had to upgrade my pass at guest services to an Incredipass . Disney wasnt selling Annual passes when I bought my Park passes in February . I lucked out because on the next day they stopped selling Annual passes at all. Obviously I have other points to use throughout the year where it made sense but still cost $400 bucks a pop more.

No one bought a guaranteed week and guaranteed access to discounted admission for the same week. At most someone bought a guaranteed week plus access to Membership Extras which might or might not include access to some admission discounts that apply to that period.

I completely understand being upset that things have changed, because it is a bummer to pay more. But, to think you are entitled to discounted admission for specific dates because you bought a fixed week that happens to cover those dates is, well, entitled.

No it wouldnt. DVC owners are not buying 100s if not 1000's of points to be blocked out of specific times. We use more points as it is to visit at Peak times. If your gonna offer a perk to DVC owners then dont block out any dates. The general public should be blocked out of Peak dates to keep the traffic down. DVC members never increase traffic at the parks. There are only a certain amount of DVC rooms available and it never changes from one day to the next.

I certainly understand what you are saying and should let Disney know that you are disappointed in the structure of the pass. But, the passes are controlled by DPEP, and the Sorcerer Pass is not for DVC only...it is a pass for both DVC and FL residents. Just like Gold was blocked for Easter, this one is blocked for Thanksgiving. Many DVC owners go around Xmas to and those have always been blocked out.

So, this is not anything new...its just a different timeframe. For me, who will be traveling around Easter with my family every other year, the change in dates benefits me as a DVC owner. Unfortunately, any pass that include block out dates will impact some DVC owners...the only way to avoid it is to buy the more expensive Incredi pass.

Not sure how the FW purchase would change things.

I never said I was entitled to anything extra myself.

If they would just allow us to continue to upgrade tickets to the lower-tier pass at the end of a blackout... Our solution was to spend less money.

We travel at Christmas and have always paid premium points and been subject to blackouts, however, we would upgrade to APs at the end of our Christmas trip. First trip coming up soon where we bought just a 3 day base ticket which also means less time in the parks, eating, spending money. We have never *not* had a ticket for each day of the trip (even late arrival day) - 6 day trip, 3 day tickets this year.

They can squeeze us all they want, but I won't spend a lot more to get the same product (or a lesser product given the removal of several core components of the WDW experience) :confused3 I'm sure they'll find someone to take my place lol.

Except I think they realized that a lot of people were doing that and it was not the intent of having a pass that included block outs. So, they put an end to it. Honestly, I am surprised it took them as long as they did.

Same here. We just adapted. We'll spend more time at the resorts and less time in the parks until we can stop traveling at Christmas time and take advantage of lower-point/non-blackout dates.
