Copper Creek Studio OR Contemporary Garden Wing?

I'm trying to choose between these two for the last couple of nights of our trip (after five at the GF). One of those nights we will visit the magic kingdom and the next we will visit Epcot.

My wife hates the contemporary and thinks it is drab and awful. I'm open to the idea of staying there because I never have and want to check it off our "list".

Copper Creek is an extra $80 vs the standard view room at CR (probably the parking lot... meh..)

Having such a hard time deciding!!

I wouldn't say the Contemporary is drab and awful, just lacks any type of Disney 'theming' and sound seems to carry, but my husband seems to like it (me I love the Poly).

Not sure what SVs look like, but being there's only 2 sides it'll either be the side facing the bus stop at MK/parking lot or bay lake (we've only stayed TPV and straight on is the parking lot but if look out past that -- its the lake, bus stop, and MK is to the right). With that said, I personally would go for CR as you have the walking ability to MK on your MK day, and on your Epcot day you can hop the monorail on the 4th floor. Copper Creek you'll have to boat across to MK -- as for Epcot, not sure if they have bus service to Epcot, but if not, you'll have to boat across, then hop the monorail, which can eat up a lot of time.

There are a few differences, and it depends on whether you need one thing or another.

CR garden wing will have a larger room and two real beds. The bathroom is pretty much all in one room (just toilet in separate area, but have to walk through rest of bathroom to access). You will have a small fridge and coffee maker. Access to Epcot is by monorail, and MK is monorail or walk.

CCSV will have a balcony, kitchenette with microwave, sofa to sit on. The bathroom vanity is separate from the toilet shower room. Access to MK is bus or boat, and access to Epcot is by bus (personally I feel the WL bus stop at Epcot is very far out considering it’s a deluxe).

Of course, theming will be different.

I have stayed in both and liked both. If it’s a time of year where it’s too hot and humid and buggy to enjoy the balcony (or make that long walk to the bus at Epcot) then CR is my choice. In more temperate weather, I prefer WL.

I've stayed at both and they are both lovely for different reasons. For your two nights, my vote would be CR. It will make getting to MK and EP much more convenient (the boat to MK from WL is lovely, the bus to EP from WL is typically shared with Ft. W, though so, not my favorite in terms of transportation!). You'll have a bigger room at CR and the CR garden wing rooms are much quieter (if you are placed on the main pool side of CCV be prepared to hear the electric water pageant 3 times a night). WL is gorgeous, yes, better themed than CR, IMHO, but, for your purposes (and to save $80 for a bigger room and better transportation!), my vote is CR!

I would choose CCV. Right now a small portion of what is a small resort belongs to DVC owners. The rest belongs to the developer (DVD) and they "rent" those rooms out to Disney Travel for guests to stay on cash. As DVD sells more and more contracts to DVC owners, the number of rooms that they can offer to Disney Travel get smaller. Your greatest chances of staying at CCV on cash will be now. You will have a more difficult time booking it once all DVC contracts have been sold. People who bought into DVC at CCV will initially want to use their points to stay at the resort and won't likely offer them up for rental.

We loved our stay at the CR garden wing. It's much quieter than the tower. The rooms are bigger than most at WDW, and the modern decor is sleek and attrective. The ability to walk to & from MK rocks.

We liked our stay at Wilderness Lodge several years ago (before the renovation), but transportation to & from the parks wasn't quick. It seems like the renovations have also gotten rid of some wooded areas around the resort that added to the ambiance, so I doubt we'd stay there again unless we got a great deal.

Quite a few people don't 'get' the Contemporary. For me, it's very Disney because it's original WDW. ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo I mean, Space Mountain is right by your window. Or Bay Lake and the Water Pageant, round the other side. ...And it has the monorail running right through it. ...And there's the mural.

My first ever trip to WDW, I stayed there; so, I guess I see it through a different lens.

To answer your question, though, I'd go for the CR, for the reason ErinsMommy mentioned - the more straightforward journeys to and from MK/Epcot.

Have fun!

Still a really hard decision! Garden Wing standard view room is probably the worst room in the whole resort, while the studios in the villas could offer some really nice views. However that extra square footage is great at the CR with a 3 (turning 4) year old. We will have a car so transportation to Epcot isn't a huge factor- I abhor the bus.

I loved our standard CR garden wing room - the monorail glided right by! I would request a first floor room, though.

Yes, the views at CCV are lovely. The noise on the main pool side, not so much.

The standard view at CR will be the rooms facing the garden wing parking lot (if you don't get upgraded), but they are still very magical with the monorail gliding by right above. The ground floor rooms have patios. And much larger room than the CCV studios unless you were to luck out and get a corner studio. Going from a GF room to a WL or CCV studio you'll notice a difference in size. For 2 nights like that I think you would appreciate the easier commuting to the parks from CR and appreciate getting a similar size room.

CR will have two queen beds, plus a twin sized day bed. CC studio will have one queen bed, one double sleeper sofa. The CC studio is a converted hotel room. It will be a lot smaller than the CR wing room.

We did both last year.

Copper Creek is super cute and compact. It was nice having a big fridge and a microwave during the hurricane. Water pageant is nearby and Geyser Point is excellent. But you've got to take the little boat to the Contemporary to get the same walk to the Magic Kingdom that you'd have right out your door in the garden wing.

Honestly, I'd flip a coin unless you need the extra big bed in the garden wing room.

We stayed in a standard view garden wing room and WL (not a studio but a regular hotel room before the DVC conversion). While I loved the atmosphere at WL (which I did not expect at all) with a little one I’d pick CR for convenience. The boat to MK is neat from WL but it can take a little while. Plus if you have a little one asleep in the stroller at night walking from MK to CR is awesome. If you request a room at the end of the wing (furthest rooms) on the 3rd floor you can actually see the highest fireworks as well as the monorail from your window.

We loved our SV garden wing room last year... but it literally faced a wall. Parking lot would have been an improvement and it was *almost* the last room as far away as we could get. For MK and the monorail, though, I choose it again!
