Copper Creek Deluxe Studio Request

The only other time we stayed in CCV was in a studio with walk-in shower. This time we were able to get a deluxe studio (with tub), and I realize that almost all of them are on the first floor. We've never stayed on the first floor in any DVC resort. I really don't know whether or not I would like it. We spend a lot of time on our balcony (sometimes in our pajamas), so I'm afraid we wouldn't have the privacy we like if we have a patio instead of a balcony. If I requested high floor, I realize that would increase my chances of an alternate studio. I really don't have a need for one of those since it's just the two of us. Are there other studios on higher floors besides the alternate studios? If there are any deluxe studios on the top floor, do they have the enclosed balconies?

For reference, here are the high resolution floorplans / room type maps, with updated colors for clarity:

Check out the post I quoted. Dedicated studios with a bathtub are on the first floor, lock off studios with a bathtub are the alternate studios, on higher floors.. if you have a room on the top floor, you do have to stand to look out from your balcony.

So looks like all of the deluxe studios are only on the first floor besides the alternate studios. I'm also assuming the 7th-floor alternate studio has an enclosed balcony. So if I want to ensure a balcony but not an enclosed one, I would need to request "higher floor but not 7th floor." I'm sure my chances are pretty low to get that request met. Do the even-numbered rooms face BRV?

Correct even numbers face BRV/VWL & CCV dedicated studios with a bathtub are on the first floor.
There are some room views posted on the first page of this thread, might be helpful.
Personally I like using Touring Plans room finder tool, to check out views from different rooms (paid subscription).
Never stayed on the first floor, but have stayed twice on 2nd floor and very pleased with our room(s).

edit: Usually room requests are for the 4th & 5th floors

Okay, so I'm still trying to figure out the placement of everything. In the room maps quoted above, the first floor does not have the zig-zag in the hallway like the other floors have. Looking at this map, where do the first-floor rooms start and where do they end? Do they start only after the zig-zag in the hallway? If so, what is housed between #12 and the zig-zag? I believe it is just the rectangular section with the picture of the cabin on it. Not sure what is between that and the lobby. Also, I think you need to take the elevator down from the lobby, you enter the Lodge on the second floor.

I actually didn't realize you enter the Lodge on the second floor. I've been there many times. How did I not know that??? Thanks for the information! Since I doubt a request for 2nd-6th floor will have high odds of getting filled, I guess I'd better request an even-numbered room as a second choice to avoid having a patio facing the main WL pool.

There are not any studios with walk-in-shower on the 1st floor.

I could be wrong, but that’s how I remember it.

You could request: Alternate studio preferred, but if not available, even numbered room.

Right. I do not have a walk-in shower this time.

Will they know what "alternate studio" means? I wondered if they might not which is why I was thinking of saying "2nd-6th floor" instead. This would also hopefully eliminate the enclosed balcony room on the 7th floor.

I think so. That is the term they have used from the beginning.

They do know alternate studio / corner studio for requests. I asked for one, but got a first floor studio instead. We are in 1161, which is a really great location. The room is very close to Geyser Point and not too far from Roaring Fork. We have an exit door about 15 feet from the room. It’s close to boat transportation, too.6B5210C7-3BF4-4C9B-B462-09E9FC519FB6.jpeg

I actually just chatted with member services today about a room request for copper creek as well. I requested the alternate studio as well (since I booked the room with tub) but listed is as 115 ending corner room or high floor. We’ll see what happens.

I ended up requesting "room on 2nd-6th floors, close to elevator". I don't want the 7th floor because of the enclosed balconies. I added "close to elevator" because I don't want to be right in front of Copper Creek Springs pool or close to Geyser Point.
