My husband and his niece worked Sunday on his sister's flooded home in Metairie. The smell was pretty bad. The air conditioner unit was flooded outside so no help from a/c to dry out the air.
A New Orleans evacuee shared with me a tip about blocking the smell.
She said to coat Vick's Vaporrub around your nostrils and on the top of you lip under the respirators. When your breathe you smell Vick's, not the moldy mildewy mess.
This was the first time I have heard this, so I thought I would post it.
Hope it is helpful to someone. Going to the store to load up on Vick's Vaporub.
