Copied DVD Movies

A friend sent us some copies of movies on DVD from China - the beginning has warning, etc, in both American and China - are these illegal to buy? The movies are in English.

They are probably not illegal to buy, but they are illegal to make and sell. I would ask your friend to refrain from sending any more to you, especially if they are sending them from China. You never know the the US Customs Service will open a package, and yuo may get asked to comein for questioning.
