Hello,

Thinking about a quick trip to Copenhagen with my 2 DD's in August. I know it's not the most usual place to go, but the £6 flights with easyjet may be hard to resist :teeth:

Has anyone been? Is there anything for children (2 girls, age 5 & 8)?

I believe they have some beautiful gardens, and of course the original Little Mermaid :teeth:

Is is expensive? What is the food like?

I would be great to hear any thoughts you may have, good and bad.

Thanks
Karen :) :)

I went there on a business trip once. Can't really comment on what's there for children (ironic really, as I was there to learn about the Danish childcare arrangements) but it did have a pleasant laid back atmosphere. As for costs all I can remember was that the beer was expensive! The city centre was very pleasant around the docks area, as was the Palace. We did stop to see the Little Mermaid as we drove past it, and I have to see it was completely underwhelming! A small statue in the middle of not a lot. Quite strange...

Regards

Rob

Hi , I've been to Copenhagen twice, both times for a couple of days , though "before children", and thought it was lovely. The people were very friendly, nearly all spoke English, and it's a really nice city. Obviously when I went, I concentrated mainly on the shops and bars (both of which were great), but there is the Tivoli Gardens right in the centre, which I believe is a sort of amusement park for children / gardens , and is in all the guides. There is also the statue of the Little Mermaid, and I think there is a theme park in the suburbs. Food is fairly similar to here, if I remember correctly we had a good Italian meal, and McDonalds. We do keep meaning to go back with our DS's , didn't realise Easyjet were doing such cheap fares.

Hi Kaylee,

Bristol, with Easyjet. Exeter airport don't seem to have yet mastered charging "budget" prices!! (which is a pity as I live 5 minutes drive from the airport!)

You've just made me think about looking at the Plymouth website now though, thank you!

Haven't booked yet as I am still debating whether the money would be better saved for December!

Hi Karen

Just thought I would add that I went to Copenhagen for a break last year and it was very expensive to eat out and for drinks. Funnily enough, the cheapest place we went to was the Hard Rock Cafe!

Definately visit Tivoli Gardens. Don't bother with the Little Mermaid. It is in the middle of knowwhere and is very small. The best place to go is the Carlsberg Brewery (even with kids). They have big Shire Horses and it is free to get in. Included with the free entrance are two tickets per person for a free drink in the bar at the end (beer or soft drinks). We also did a day trip to Malmo in Sweden by train where you go over a huge bridge which conects the countries. That is amazing.

Hope this helps with your plans.
