COP - what if you need to get out???

This "open seasonally" attraction has been open virtually every day for well over a year now.

"Enjoy an involving stage show in this famed revolving theater. Take a journey with an American family as it experiences technological changes throughout the twentieth century. Humorous family moments reveal how life has gotten easier and more fun. (open seasonally)"

Taken right from the Walt Disney World website. Just reporting what they said.

I know. I wasn't disputing you.

I said (if you'll just re-read my post) that this "open seasonally" attraction has been OPEN virtually every day for more than a year.

Unlike "Wonders of Life" in Epcot which is "open seasonally", and means in ITS case... NOT open virtually EVER.

Oh, now I see!

Yes, COP has been open everytime I've visited so maybe they are just allowing themselves an out. I hope they never close it because the kids and I love 'riding' it and then singing the song all day afterwards.

we left the show between scenes and didn't return because dd needed to potty, it didn't interrupt the show for anyone else. the kids rode this again in april 2006

How did you know it didn't interrupt the show? I'm fairly sure the people that left while my family was trying to watch it didn't realize it was freezing up as the door slammed behind them either. The CMs say not to leave for a reason, it ruins the show, because the scenery and soundtrack won't match up after that.

because the remaining members of my family stayed while we left......

Once Carousel of Progress starts you may not get out (except for an emergency that affects just about everyone inside). Any more than getting out of Spaceship Earth or Splash Mountain or any other ride in the middle.

Most rides (including Primeval Whirl but not including Peter Pan) have catwalks that can be used for evacuation. The perimeter walkway of CoP beyond the boarding area is to be treated as a catwalk.

I agree, except for the comparisons.

CoP is much closer to the type of show that is the Tiki Room, ITtBaB, HISTA, Philharmagic, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Muppets (even B&B on stage, Festival of the Lion King, Indy and LMA Stunt shows, and Fantasmic!)

Guests are sitting in a "theater seats" (of various kinds).

You certainly CAN exit Tiki during the show (although I hate it when folks DO that).
Likewise, folks (hopefully) take their screaming kids out of these other attractions as well.
Many times before these theater shows, there is an annoucement of which way to exit DURING THE SHOW, if you need to.

So the easy CONFUSION is that in a show like CoP, with such easy access to doors that have lighted "EXIT" signs over them (a legal requirement, of course), and usually no CM standing up front (like they ALWAYS used to have), many guests just think they can get up and leave if they want... and some DO.

I agree they are not supposed to, but its just too "easy and inviting" for some to ignore.

Back to comparisons: There is no obvious egress that would "invite" one to just "step out" of, say, a log in Splash...

I know that some odd guests even do THAT, but those ride-in-vehicle attractions are far different than the theater shows.
