on another board i frequent, someone asked this question and says she was told by a cast member that there's no way to get out of the carousel of progress once it starts. What if someone has a heart attack/seizure/whatever?? Anyone have any info?

tia!

Each time the carasoul stops for the next scene there is a door that you can exit out of. They maybe meant that once the carasaoul begins to move to the next scene you can not exit.

You can get out, there's a door at the back of the theater. It will stop the rotation though, and basically ruin the show for everyone else. So it should be an emergency, not "Oh, I think I"ll go get a Mickey Bar now"

I have never been on COP - what is it?

CoP is "Carousel of Progress" in Tomorrowland, by far, the oldest attraction in all of WDW.

Does anyone else know WHY that it is?

Because they closed all the other ones :rotfl2:

No, wasn't it built for the World's Fair and that was the actual one they used at the fair?

Not to hijack the thread, but this summer we were on Test Track when it shut down. For those familiar with the ride, we were just about to do the crash test (where the doors open and you head outside), when we stopped. The seatbelts kept us locked in place and I would say we sat for about ten minutes. The little girl in the front seat needed "to go potty" and I wondered what would happen if the delay had been much longer. There were no CM's around, I'm sure we were on camera, but how would we have let them know that there was a "minor" emergency?

Isn't the COP the one where they show a scene from the past with a family in their home? Then, they add things like telephones and tvs as it moves into the future?

If I'm thinking of the right one, I can't imagine why anyone would have to leave (other than a true emergency as the OP posted). I actually included this particular attraction in my letter to the girls' principal asking for an excused absence as this is one of the attractions that shows the evolution of our world.

I had no idea it was one of the oldest attractions. I remember seeing it as a child in the 70s, though, so I guess it may be....

Yes, 1964 NYC World's Fair.
Moved to Disneyland, ran there for years.
Moved to WDW when MK was first built.

we rode it on Sept. 14, it wasn't closed then.

tricia.

It is open 'seasonally'. I rode it in May.

we left the show between scenes and didn't return because dd needed to potty, it didn't interrupt the show for anyone else. the kids rode this again in april 2006

I know what ot stands for, I just don't know what the attraction is.

I wish I had known you could exit the theatre and not disturb the show back in June. Something I ate made me real sick and... well, it was bad. When you need to potty, CoP is the longest show ever.

This "open seasonally" attraction has been open virtually every day for well over a year now.
