Hi everyone-

When was the last time any of you was able to see Carousel of Progress? I get more and more depressed every time I go and see the closed sign :( Are there specific dates that it's open, or do they just decide arbitrarily?

I think only in the busiest months of summer and holidays do they open it. We saw it about 6 times December 2001 as we knew we'd probably not see it for many years if ever again... It's outdated and silly but still one of my all time favorites!

it is normally running during the busy seasons (Christmas, Spring Break, and Some of the Summer) otherwise it is not. They mostly use it now to disperse the crowds when attendence peaks. :(

I was finally able to ride it again this summer in July. Boy did it bring back memories. Now if I can only get my mom to come during the times that it is opened. I know she would truely enjoy it. I really wish they would leave it opened year round.

I agree that it seems to only be open when the crowds are large to help deflect some of the traffic away from Buzz, Space Mountain and Alien Encounter.
Even during the summer months it can be hit or miss though..in the second week of June 02 it was open but this last summer during the same period it was not...too bad, my then 3 year old daughter really liked it. She called it the "Guy in the tub ride" :D

I so miss COP. Anyone know if it'll be showing anytime around 12/11-17?

Anyone know if it will be open anytime during the weeks before X-mas...???

Has it been open at that time of year in the past?

We are at WDW until the 20th of December (last full park day) but I would even get up early and try to see it on the 21st if there is any chance of it being open...

We thought we would get to see it on President's day but had no luck...It did not open.

Not sure what luck you'll have Photo.

When we went in August, it definitely did not open until several hours after the park had opened, and it closed several hours before. Even if it were to be open, I don't think getting there early would help you.

We have seen COP the last 2 years over the christmas holiday. Even at the very busy times, the rides never had more than a 4 minute wait. It is the DW's favorite ride.

You might get lucky on the 20 or 21.

We will be back from the 28-2. Hope we can catch it again. Never know when they might bring in the wrecking ball.

I was able to ride CoP Thanksgiving weekend 02 and Easter week 03, but those are the only times I have seen it open recently.

I do know if you will be able to see it or not. We were able to see it the Sun after Thanksgiving last year, then they closed it for the rest of our stay. I would suggest you email WDW and ask if COP is open during your stay. Make sure to let them know when you are going to be there. The other thing we need to do is if it is open go and do it. That is the only way they will open it up more. We go in 2 weeks. I just emailed them and asked if COP and Timekeeper will be open. It is too early for me to have an answer yet.
