Coordinating FPs with off-site guest

I am staying on-site for my upcoming trip, but a friend I am meeting up with is staying off-site (lets assume it's not one of the ones that will soon possibly allow people to make 60 day FP's). Am I able to make his FP's when I make mine at 60 days out and add him as a guest? We both have our MDE accounts linked.

Since this is a benefit of staying onsite, you can only make his FP reservations if you add him as a guest that is staying in your room.

Not true. According to post #2 of the FP FAQ thread:

Offsite Guests - 30 Days Before Park Day:
  • Guests not staying at any of the resorts listed above, but with tickets linked to an MDX account. Note: If offsite guests are linked to or listed on accounts of onsite guests above, they share the onsite guests' booking window of 60 days.

Actually, I believe if he's connected to you via "My Friends & Family," you should be able to make his FPs at 60 days out.

This is true. I’ve done it - DH & I onsite, made FP for us and family members staying offsite at the 60-day mark.

Interesting. I didn't know that. We have friends that live in Orlando who have AP, and they are linked to our account because we have toured with them before . We were not able to make FP for them at 60 days on prior trips. This is good to know because maybe we can on future trips.

Yup just add them to your mde and you can make fp for all of you - as long as at least one onsite guest is on the same FP+. My sil, niece and nephew live in FL so they don't always stay over but I can make our FP+ selections together even when they don't. I have been doing this since the beginning of FP+.

Can the offsite guest also make these FP+ reservations at 60 days out, if they are linked in MDE to the onsite guest? Or does the onsite guest have to be the one to make them for the offsite guest?

The offsite guest can book the FPs but must include an onsite guest in the FP grouping.

Whether you or the offsite guest books the FP, the FP reservation must include a member of the group staying on site.

And if changes need to be made, an onsite guest can be removed from the booked FP via Change Party and the FP remains intact.
