My teen really sweats buckets in hot weather. On top of that she is "well endowed" and full figure if you know what I mean. ;)

Since we will be in WDW during muggy FD period, was thinking of buying a few CoolMax or other brand clothing that wicks moisture well.
(maybe a couple of tees and socks).

Anyone use these and can attest they are worth the extra $$?
Recommended brand?
Best place or seller to get a good price?

Supposedly not "scratchy" like polyester material ~ true?
There were some "irregulars" on Ebay but little suspicious of irregulars (bad fit or not effective wicking maybe?)

Any advice appreciated. Thanks ~ Tina

I toured "the world" in moisture wicking clothing in August. It was my first experience wearing these type of clothes at WDW and it was AWESOME! So much better than traditional cotton clothes in that heat and humidity. Everything was moisture wicking...the bra, the shirt, the shorts, and the socks! The best part was riding Kali River Rapids...I was dry (and cool) in no time.

I got the bra at Target (I'm well endowed too and had no problem finding a comfortable fit ;) ). I picked up the shirts and shorts at TJMaxx, Marshalls, and Target. I spent anywhere from $9.99-19.99 on each piece. I don't remember the exact brands - I think the Target brand was "Champion", the socks were "Nike" and one pair of the shorts (from Marshalls) was "Adidas". All of it was located in the activewear/fitnesswear section of the stores. Dick's Sporting Goods carries some nice brands too, but they're a little harder to find in larger sizes.

Good luck on your search!

Coming from a hardcore vacationing/golfing family, moisture wicking clothing is 100% absolutely worth the extra cost!!!!!

Walmart sells a brand of wicking clothing. The t-shirts are $7.98 and I find them just as comfortable as the more expensive brands in terms of wicking.

Thats all I wear now and DD is not far behind. Addidas is my brand of choice but I do have some others .

I even have a pair of Climacool shoes from them now as well.

I just think it makes it way more comfortable at the parks from thew heat to the rain and waterrides. I have a good deal of shorts as well but not as much as shirts . I have about 25 or so of them. Get most at the Addidas outlets.

Dicks also has some real nice ones at a good price.

Yes, it is wonderful. Thank goodness for technology! :thumbsup2

Well havent heard a negative yet so looks like a :thumbsup2 idea.

I'm pleasantly surprised there are not so expensive wicking clothing available -apparently the brand name is not a factor.
We have a TJMax nearby and I will check the athletic stores at our local outlet mall.

Thanks all ~ Tina

I haven't tried them, but my sister who is an avid cyclist swears by those types of materials. Her favorites are from Colorado Cyclist. I know they have a web site, as I got her something online from them as a gift to her.

So the ones from Walmart are just as good? I was considering picking up a few tshirts for DH and DSS but both have plenty of tshirts for this summer. I want to make sure they are really worth spending the money on before I unnecessarily add to their shirt collections.

Because of this board, me and DW have become wicking bargain hunters. Stores like Ross, Marshalls, TJmaxx have great deals. WalMart.com had wicking shirts on sale for $6.
Got Adidas wicking shirts for $8 at Marshalls, 6 pack Nike wicking socks at Ross for $7.
We are of the thinking that we won't wear these clothes much outside of scorching hot vacations. So we really went bargain route. And we really dont want to buy a whole new wardorbe for a vacation so we are buying enough clothes for half the trip and do a small load of laundry halfway thru.
Remember don't use fabrics softener on wicking clothes.

Love coolmax and other wicking material clothing for the hot weather. That's all we took when we went to China 2 summer's ago and they had record breaking temps. It was great to come back to the hotel and wash them out by hand and by the next morning they would be dry. We just took a small bottle of Woolite to wash them.

We bought ours from the stores mentioned by others.

Are there coolmax items for kids? My 3 are just little sweat bees and they are not comfortable because everything they have on gets soaked in 1 hour of touring. I would love to get them some relief.

There is a whole C9 collection for boys at Target. My ds lived in the C9 stuff while we were in Disney last yr. I can find the C9 collection for everyone at Target except for dd - there is nothing for the girls dept. I wish they would get with the program - dd gets hot too! Luckily she wears cami type tops, but the cool max stuff would be better for her too.

I got a pair of shorts from sierratradingpost.com for $4.98 and a top for about the same. I love them!

They have some good closeout deals on coolmax socks and the clothes from all different brands.

hth!

I bought some t-shirts by Ativa at Dicks recently. Cotton/cool max blend. Something like two for $13

Wore one yesterday to Epcot. Worked great!

I use to buy Champion brand sports bras at the Leggs/Hanes/Bali outlet stores that had cool max. Very effective (and supportive) IMO. I can't recall the price, ~$25? I have purchased most of my clothing that has coolmax from stores such as REI, North Face, Campmour, and Sierra Trading Post. I usually only buy it when it's on clearnace or on sale but they ahve all worked quite well while backpacking during the summer months.

I've also seen cool max for children (boy and girls) at Dick's Sporting Goods. I believe it starts at size 7 though - haven't seen any for toddler/preschool sizes.

I have seen wicking t-shirts in the ladies plus size section of Walmart too.

My sister always wears them working out in the yard.

I'm going to look for the bras. I try to get one that won't hold moisture, but it si really uncomfortable wearing a soaked one all day.

Oh, I may go look for some tops for my dd at Dick's.

As for the C9 for boys you can get XS which is equivalent to size 4. Ds who was 5 when we were in Disney back in August wore the XS shorts no problem and S (size 5ish) shirts.
