Planning a summer (late June to just past July 4th) trip for 2016. I was just thinking, how hot is it to hang out around the campsite, especially during the day? We would take midday breaks as we will be bringing our lab. Is it too hot to be anywhere but the pool or in your rig with the AC going? Does anybody do anything like bring a box or oscillating fan to hook up outside? Thanks.

Well, it would be 'too hot' for me to just hang around outside, but there are some that do it. A fan may help some, but mainly it will be circulating hot, humid air. :(

We are deep south people and love the heat vs. cold, but even with that we don't stay outside for long periods of time - unless in the water! ;)

That's why we have decided the last few years not to go in the summer months anymore - staying in the parks all day in the heat are a bit much for us now.

See you are from CT so not used to FL summers - that will probably make more of a difference. Good luck on trying it though! :)

We go mid-July and we don't do parks so we hang out all the time:) We bring a shade house and set up our chairs there with a couple of fans in the corners. Cold drinks and it's perfect! We've never found it unbearably hot although if your site is in full sun, I might change my mind. We love the summer at the Fort!

We always go in august which is hotter than July. We sit outside all the time under our awning, we have one of those industrial fans like they use in homes for water damage. You can get one at northern tools. We do not do the parks in the summer, to hot, long lines, sweaty people it makes for a miserable day. We go looping in the campground, do things at the fort, we go looping on monorail to the different resorts for shopping or adult beverages out at the resort pools. If you do go to the parks I recommend early morning till about 11am then back to the fort and maybe go back to the parks around 5-6pm.

We have been down in june.. with the dog. Call over/log on to the doggy day care -- best friends. It worth the coin to drop them off and pick them up as the dog is tired that night it's like a 1/4 to 1/3 of a day ticket....

we had our dog with us for two weeks at FW. Long park days we had her in doggy day care, as well as few other days to just to be able to do what we wanted. Fish, Goofy off..
