So can you take in a cooler to Universal like in Disney? The info on the website for Universals says no coolers allowed. Are they that strict at the gates, will they not allow any in? How about The small shoulder ones?

We were not allowed to take our cooler into US or IOA (3 years ago). They let us in the park but we were escorted to lost property to hand in the cooler to be picked up when we left, however, we were told that we could take the drinks out of the bag and they gave us a carrier bag to put them in so that we could take them around with us. Did not understand the logic of this as the cooler was only a small one that slipped over your shoulder but that was the only way we could take our drinks with us.

Thanks for your reply. Last year, we carried backpacks into Disney with frozen bottles of water and crackers. I was wondering if something like this would be allowed in US/IOA.

we were there last easter and had no problem, we had a cooler bad at the bottom of the stroller and they looked and let us walk in. no one took it.

• Snacks and drinks are always handy to have with you when exploring the theme parks. You can carry them with you in a backpack or shoulder bag. Be aware that your bag will be inspected by Security before you enter the theme parks, and you may have to check it in a rental locker before boarding certain thrill rides and roller coasters.

PLEASE NOTE: Coolers are not permitted in either theme park.

I think you cant bring coolers into Disney parks either. You can bring them into their water parks though. Disney parks let you bring in a carry bag that will fit in a locker.

Well, that's strange that people were escorted someplace to drop off their coolers. :confused3

We were there today (and all this week) and we've brought a large pink collapsable cooler that held lunch and snacks for 5 people. It wasn't small enough to hide, that's for sure. And we opened it every day at the bag check station. They just poked around inside and waved us on.

We brought the same cooler with lunch, drinks and snacks to Disney and Seaworld and never once did anyone say a thing.

I think it really depends on who is checking the bags, how crowded it is, and what kind of mood everyone is in-it never fails that with this particular question you always get a variety of different responses. We plan on taking a small, soft sided cooler under my son's stoller. We were able to do this at WDW a couple of years ago with no problem. All I can say is good luck!!!!

I think it has to be soft sided, and not the hard type. You can easily bring a soft sided cooler in that can hold a drink and a sandwich with no problem.

It's best to just carry a drink into the park and not worry about the cooler. It's one less thing you have to carry. You'll have to put the cooler into a locker when going on the big rides like Hulk and the Mummy. They have free lockers near the rides, but it takes a few minutes to get the locker as other people will be doing the same.

If you really want to save money, leave the cooler in your car, and go back to the parking garage at lunch time. It's best to travel light in the parks.
