Yep, there are two folks that always get invited to the party. The guy who has all the best wine, Whisky, etc (Me) and the guy who doesn't drink (the designated drive).

so....dragging this thread back.... I got a small coleman cooler that promised 3 days of ice,put sodas/ice in it...it melted by the next day into water. each day-refill ice,it melts.I am returning it this week to WM. It was in the shade,and not hotter than 80 any given day- I would assume the 5 day has a bad actual use record too?
...AND...a dry ice question -can it be sealed in a bag in the cooler,or does it need a vent of some sort? Not too sure,but thinking it's the best option for us next trip.....

You can put the dry ice in a bag, but don't seal it. The dry ice sublimates (goes from a solid directly to a gas) and expands in volume as it does so. If you seal the bag too tightly it will eventually explode if not opened to release the pressure.

I have two of the igloo Max Cold coolers and they seem to keep the ice frozen pretty well. So far we have only camped for weekend trips, so I can't say if it lasts for 5-7 days or not, but it does a great job over three days

Be sure not to touch the dry ice directly, or you will be forever frozen. It's great to use, but use it with touch caution. Use a glove if you must contact it.

We bought a new pop-up camper this year and also struggled with melting ice in coolers. We eventually went with a plug-in cooler. It keeps the inside of the cooler 40 degrees cooler than the ambient temperature. Its a 12 volt cooler with a 110 volt adapter. It actually recommends that no ice be used. Its fantastic. We plug it in the day before the trip and plug it in inside the car on the way. I would recommend it for anyone, and since all of FW sites have power, you should be all set.

I'm from Canada, so I bought mine at Costco. The brand I got was Kool-a-tron, and it can be purchased from Amazon.com. However, I'm sure you can find a cheaper one from Walmart or somewhere like that. Mine is 36L and I spent $100.
