Ok, first of all, I need to know how many pounds of potato salad I need to buy to serve 12 people. Thats one thing I'm not attempting to make.

Also, here is my menu for our cookout. Please let me know if you think this is enough food, or if you have any other suggestions. Again, this is for 12 people. Thanks!

Burgers
Italian Sausage

Potato salad
Pasta salad
Fruit Salad
Chips

Parmesan Puffs
Ham and Cheese snacks
Stuffed bread
Triscuit crackers (mixture of stuff on top)

Key Lime Pie Tarts
Banana Cream Pie Tarts
Pink Lemonade Pie Tarts
Almond squares
Caramel Marshmallow Brownies

(Can you tell I enjoy the desserts more?
:D )

sounds yummy! Especially the desserts. What time shall I be there?;) You might want to add one more main item, but JMO.

you might want to change that final head count to 13! The key lime pie tarts sound delicious!

I'd say you have plenty of food and a great variety! Have fun!

Sounds like a winner!

I am a bad person to ask for quantities. I come from a family that always cooks too much.

Sounds like tons of food to me! Have fun and let us know how it went. I don't have a clue as to how much potato salad you would need to buy. I always make a huge bowl when we are having a crowd, but I don't know how many pounds fit in my bowl.

Are the 12 people all adults?

I would guess you might be able to figure the potato salad something like this...

1/2 cup of potato salad per adult... 1/2 = 4 oz. = 1/4 lb. per person = 3 pounds of potato salad total.

Some people may eat more, some less, but figure out some sort of average.

Then, I'd probably round up, just to be on the safe side, and get 4 pounds, just in case. I'd probably have 1 pound left over, but that's OK, I like potato salad! ;)

Sounds sensible, but I don't know for sure. Maybe you could ask at the deli?

Sounds like you've got enough to satisy everyone though!

I'd probably add either hot dogs or brats to go with the burgers & sausage, but I don't think you'd HAVE to.

And the desserts sound YUMMY!

Just wanted to let everyone know the cookout went great. Everyone loved everything and we had a great variety and plenty left over. Thanks for the help!
