Ok, I need to start baking.. help me decide on what to bake... I'm game for anything sweet and fun!!!

I know we will do the sugar cookies w/ cookie cutters..
We've got the swirl chips ready to go...
What else??
I usually make a bunch because I'll send some in to each of the classes and a few out with gifts...

I made 3 different kinds of fudge this year. I think this is a new tradition for me, super easy and quick to do. I made 3 9x13 pans this year and ended up with about 12 dozen pieces of fudge. Luckily, I went to a cookie exchange and traded 11 dozen pieces of fudge for 11 dozen cookies. :teeth: If you want the receipe, let me know.

Good idea..but that would be a small batch.. I'm the only one who likes oatmeal... when I tell my kids how they use to eat it all the time they turn green! :confused3

Okay, this is candy, but it works. I send a bunch to school every year.

Just take about 3 cups each of rice chex, froot loops, and pretzels (small twists) and about 1 1/2 cups of peanuts. Mix that up. In the microwave, melt one pound of white almond bark (in the baking aisle with the chocolate). Melt at about 50% power, or you will burn it.

Pour the white chocolate over the cereals, etc. and mix it up until everything is coated (you need a BIG bowl). Spread out on wax paper to cool, break into bite size chunks and put in zip locks.

This is ADDICTIVE.

The name is the best...you are making White Trash! :lmao:

:lmao: Love the name!!!
Okay, I have everything... however, I don't have the almond bark... Maybe I'll substitute white chocolate instead....
yeah!!
I'm making "puppy chow" after lunch... peanut butter, chocolate melted and added to rice or corn chex and sprinkled w/ powdered sugar.. My kids love it (well, me too but :ssst: )

Hey, I want the fudge recipe too!! Please. and Thank you.

My kids don't do cookies. We made tons last year and had to toss our cookies. In the garbage that is. So this year I just got the premade, precut sugar cookies for them to decorate. They ate two and the rest went to the garbage man.

So if anyone wants to take pity on me and send me few so I can eat them, that would be great. Otherwise I'll just have to settle for grocery store cookies.

I do have a recipe for gingerbread men cookies that use butterscotch pudding in it. They were the best gingerbread cookies. We gave them to the postal workers last year.

I can send you some!! What type?? I'll have more than enough!!!
Okay, I'm off to make some dough so it can chill in the fridge.. I'm not cooking til tonight...

I'll help you eat the oatmeal raisin ones. And the chocolate swirl ones. And the sugar cookies. Oh and the White Trash 'cause that is just too funny.

You girls are making me hungry! :teeth:

Okay the fudge receipe is:

3 cups Sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter/margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk
12 oz chocolate chips/peanut butter/white chocolate chips
7 oz (about 1/2 container) of Marshmellow Fluff
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup Chopped Walnuts/peanuts/crushed candy canes (optional)

Combine sugar, butter and evap milk in a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Whisk mixture frequently to make sure sugar is fully dissolved. Scrap the sides so that there is no crystallized sugar on the sides of the pan (very important, don't forget to do this 'cuz the texture will be off if sugar gets mixed in)
Boil for about 7 minutes until it reaches the soft ball stage - 238 degrees. (my MIL just times it, I use a candy thermometer.)
Remove from heat and stir in Chocolate chips/Peanut Butter/White chocolate chips.
Add in Marshmellow Fluff, vanilla and nuts/candy cane (if you want) in that order
Beat (by hand) until well blended, your arm will get a work out ;)
Pour into a well greased pan
Sprinkle with nuts/candy cane on top (optional)
Cool and cut

*I make everything in the same pan and just adding the ingrediants as I go. That way I only dirty two pans.

I just need to buy the evaporated milk (the one I had expired IN 2004, I am so bad) and then I'll be making some fudge.

Thank you!!

I love making cookies!

Here's an easy recipe...

Melt a 12 oz pack of Choc chips in a sauce pan (slowly, don't burn)
1 cup of UNSALTED peanuts
1 cup of chow mein noodles

After the chips melt, mix in the peanuts and chow mein noodles. Mix well until all coated. Drop in clumps onto wax paper. Let it stand until they set.

Yum!

Guess I need to get moving, I'm making Thin mints, cherry chocolate cookies, cranberry oatmeal, fudge, and cheese straws. I've never done the cheese straws before but MIL can't do them anymore.

I've got puppy chow made....fudge sitting to get firm....and now I'm going to make the dough... I have about 5 more pages to finish in DH's book...but I'm at a loss for inspiration... of course it doesn't help when DS6 has to come with "Mom, I need, mom can you, mom are you busy?"

ack. making cookie tins this year, and so far I have sugar cookie trees (still need to be decorated), tiger butter, and spritz trees...um, that's it! I didn't want to make everything too far in advance (cookies are in freezer). I still have to make candy cane blossoms, choc. peppermint pinwheels (DH watched alton brown make them and said "how come you don't make anything fun like that" ... ), cherry cordial cookies, maybe pizzelles, and rum (kahlua) balls...yeah right! lol and he wants to go SHOPPING tonight!!

eek.

You guys are all nutz!!!! Sounds good though!!!! We just had this Christmas party at work and someone brought in this totally INCREDIBLE Dish!!!!! I have to share with you all!!!! It's not cookies! But you know what???? You will eat them like cookies!!!! They are sooooooo Good!!!!!!

Baked Cheese Crisps!!!!
Take Asiago Shredded Cheese and Parmasian Shredded Cheese and mix them together and put on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 until not quite brown? You don't want them to be brown, but golden! That's it Golden! Take out and let cool and just break apart into pieces! Oh my goodness they are to die for!!!!! Sooooooo Yummy!!!!!!!

Enjoy!
Maria

I just got home from the store to buy my baking supplies and $105 later I have a kitchen full of stuff to make cookies! I haven't baked for Christmas in years. We usually go to my dh's family and then mine. His family never really has much, but mine has tons of baked stuff, so we take some premade dough to the in-laws and the kids decorate some for fun and so they have a little snack there. This year we aren't going to my mom's so if I don't do the baking we won't have any!

I'm making.......
~peanut brittle (the easy kind in the microwave)
~peanut butter blossoms (w/ hershey kisses)
~frosted sugar cookies (great recipe make with ricotta cheese!)
~french lace
~cashew triangles
~haystacks (chow-mein noodles, chocolate, peanut butter and peanuts)
~nutmallow goodies (rainbow marshmallows, butterscotch chips, choc chips & peanuts sounds gross, but yummy!)
~chocolate fudge

I also make sour cream coffee cake for my Christmas morning and tons of individual ones for my dh to take into work at his fire departmen.

Oh my goodness. I need to get going!!! My house is a wreck and I haven't started any of this yet! Yikes!

Is anybody else feeling the pressure????

Pressure.. Pressure.. OH yea! I haven't even begun wrapping.. the kids are fighting.. hello? Can you say "Santa is watching"....Okay off to finish one more page to DH scrapbook for Christmas... He is working from home tomorrow so I'm on a major deadline! At least with him working from home tomorrow.. I can't use the computer so I can accomplish alot more!!
