Why oh why do I always agree to participate?

Last Sunday spent hours making 12 dozen chocolate pretzel cookies. Topped with mocha glaze and white chocolate drizzle. Gotta impress this year.

Packaged in lovely green chinese takeout containers that say Merry Grinchmas on them.

Add to that the concurrent ornament exchange. Spent 2 hours making hand strung bead ornaments.

Remind me why I participate?

I feel better about mine now.
I only have to make 6 dozen cookies and we get to buy a ornament. :)

Gotcha both beat!! Only 3 dozen cookies and no ornament! I win!:rotfl::rotfl:

Sorry your exchange is feeling more like a chore than a treat. Maybe it's time to decline next year.

I am going to one tonight.

The best part?

Cookies are optional. But since I might want some, I am making some now. I Don't know how these exchanges work. But we were told we could cheat, so I Am using...refrigerated cookie dough.

This is a rescheduled event from Thursday night--and I couldn't go that night anyway.

Was busy with other things, so cheating it is. :)

The rules are a different cookie every year but my co-worker's wont let me change mine they love them.

Luckily they are really easy to make and I taught my DD and she does most of the work.

Can I have your recipe for Chocolate Pretzel Cookies? Sounds delicious. When you have time of course.

I reluctantly did my first cookie exchange last week. 9 dozen. It was way too much work. I would never do an ornament exchange and I will not do a cookie exchange again. I think the idea is nice for people to make a large batch of one recipe and in return get a variety. I still had to do all the baking for my family of the usual traditional treats they look forward to all year in addition to the cookies that went to the party. It was just a lot of work and not something that worked for me.

I have to find it. Put it away somewhere but when I do I will PM you.

BTW...they were very popular. People were shocked that there was no actual pretzel in them, just pretzel shaped.

I don't do them anymore. I have made up to 13 dozen cookies and spent good time and money making sure that they werenice Christmas cookies. I came home with some bars that were a few days old, rice krispie treats and some that I would not serve to anyone.

This year my DD, my DS's Gf ane I are doing a cookie co-op. We each are making 4 or 5 different kinds of cookies for Christmas and will make our trays from them. We all know what kind of cookies we like and know that they will be fresh.

We do 3 dozen and a white elephant present. It's a nice number because it's just one batch of most recipes and we all don't need that many cookies around! The party is 8-12 ladies.

I honestly don't think I could do one of those where you make one dozen per person. Not only do I not really want to make 12 dozen cookies, but I have no idea what I'd do with all that!

I think I would run screaming the other way if someone said you need to make 12 dozen. That is 144 cookies!:scared1:

I love baking so I love them - with rules - no chocolate chip, no pre-packaged no rice krispies. If I'm going to stand and toil so should you. That being said, I could have supplied a number of cookie exchanges this year - I stopped counting at 375 cookies LOL!

I've done them in the past, and I ended up with a bunch of cookies I didn't eat. I'm allergic to walnuts and pecans, and for whatever reason, people feel like EVERYTHING that's baked during the holidays MUST have walnuts and/or pecans, so I ended up giving away most of the cookies from my exchange. Oh well. So now I just make my own cookies/candies/treats. :thumbsup2
