Convincing the family

When you were planning to book your cruise, did you have to convince family members? How did you go about that? We have some people who would be traveling eith us, and they're not really hot about taking a Disney Cruise, so just looking for some tips!

Our first cruise was a 3 day with 4 day land package. We booked well before the maiden voayage.

When I first heard about this I thought I'd have a hard time convincing DH - nope! He was all for it as soon as I showed him the brochure. Kids were geeked on the WDW part, not so sure about the cruise but up for an adventure.

Now they'd rather cruise than do DCL. Although neither are in the plans for the immediate future. So I come here for a "fix".

I second the suggestion to order to video!

DH had no interest whatsoever to do ANY cruise (even though we're Disney nuts) until he saw the video.

He'd thought that one pretty much stays on the ship, (until I explained that it 'docks' for a day here and there). He still wasn't convinced it'd be all that great, until he saw the beaches!

Our first cruise was spring break in 2002. The second day on board, he booked us for the following year!

Show them the video! I loaned mine to our neighbors and they cannot wait to book their first cruise. Who can resist Mickey!

If there is kids invovled I would sure sell the kids programs and how it give adults, some nice adult time away. The best of both worlds, great family time, but also some great adult time while the kids are also having a great time.

Record the Travel Channel program on DCL and send that along with the DCL official video planner, point them to the following web sites and if after all of that they are not excited, check for a pulse or maybe these people just don't like good, clean fun

Is it that they don't want to cruise, or they just dont want to Disney cruise?

On my first cruise with my family over christmas 99, all the teens in the club did was complain that they were on a disney cruise. I was so fed up, that I didn't spend much time in the club.

You're on a disney cruise for goodness sakes!!! I can't imagine anyone, even if they don't like disney, not having fun on this cruise!!!
