Convince me - why should we to to Cirque?

Years back a very nice lady with a young daughter struck up a conversation with me on the Disney bus and said that if there is any way to afford tickets definitely go....I had never seen anything about Cirque...there were no tv shows about it back then...had no idea what it was all about, but back then the tickets were $75. I thought it was something .... well, I didn't know what it would be. Two years later, I did get tickets. Still had no idea what it was all about.
Well, DH and I were awestruck. I couldn't even describe it to my friends and family. There was so much to see and hear....I have a great appreciation for imaginitive people, those who push the limits and have the vision and talent to do this type of thing...just like WDW, I go there not to see the same thing over and over, but because I am so amazed by the details and how detail perfect everything is - what kind of minds were these folks blessed with?? I wish I had the vision and talent to think of things like this and to do and create what they do....So, if you are amazed by the amazing by all means GO!! I bought tickets for my daughter and son in law for their honey moon and they LOVED it. DH is pretty tight fisted with a dollar, but he thought it was well worth the money, and gave us memories of that one Disney trip that will last forever.

You want a reason? How about going because we can't afford to go as a family. I have always wanted to see Cirque. My DW would love it, I know she would but we can't justify spending that much for the 4 of us (DD9 & DS5) to go. This way, you could take all the pictures and/or video and send them to me to enjoy just like I was there, except without the cost! :rotfl:

I understand your reason but I'm afraid that a two dimensional depiction of Cirque will be flatter than the film it is recorded on. Things are happening all over the place. Unless you have a wide angle lens, it just isn't going to make it happen. I wouldn't waste the admission price on kids that small. They would enjoy it but not really be able to appreciate it enough to warrent the high costs.

Get the cheapest seats you can find. There are no bad ones. I was in the last row on the very top of the theater and I actually think I could see more then the people in the expensive seats. I was glad I did it, but I would only do it once. It is a very high price for a brief period of entertainment. When I heard people complain about the cost of admission to the parks, which is a whole day experience instead of an hour and a half, it makes me chuckle.

Sorry, I would not try to convince anyone into anything but just explain our experience with Cirque. I was skeptical long ago and really didn't want to spend that much money. Our home cable has Bravo, and Cirque is on there frequently and after watching it alot of times became addicted to the performances and music. One trip, we had CM discounts, and decided to try Cirque, amazing preformance, something I've never seen nor experienced before anywhere. As others have stated, not a bad seat in the theater, save your money and buy the cheap seats, just as good if not better then the high cost seats. There was something going on around and in front of you for the whole performance. I'm glad I've done it once, to pay and see the same show, no, I don't think so, maybe if a new show was there but it is alot of money and I feel the one time experience was enough.

I've been to Cirque and found it enjoyable, but way too expensive. I'd rather spend the time/money on other things.

Cirque is the best show at Disney. It's truly amazing and must be seen. I completely agree that its worth every penny. I'm going Dec. 14th to the 6pm show. Can't wait.

Not knowing your tastes and financial situation, I won't try to convince you. I'll simply share that Dh and I went a few months ago for our wedding anniversary. He wasn't really looking forward to it, but he went because he knew I wanted to see it. We have annual passes, so we had a discount, but I still worried about the cost. (Mostly because I didn't want dh to think we "wasted" all that money.) Anyway.... we loved it. Throughout the entire show, I could hear my dh just saying, "Wow!" over and over again, and dh doesn't really express that kind of amazement often. We left thankful for our "date" without the kiddos, but planning on bringing the kids back one day.

I've been to 3 different Cirque shows, but not La Nouba. We have it on DVD and our family likes it. It is a feast for the eyes and the music is beautiful.

The reason we don't go, is that we do not have long enough vacations to WDW. We go often, but only for 4 full days on average. As appealing as the Cirque is, we don't ever chose a Cirque show vs not going to a park. If they had a showing after the parks closed for the night we'd be all over that!

If WDW is the only place you would have an opportunity to see Cirque, you have a longer vacation, and you have the cash, I'd go for it!

Enjoy!!!

I have been the past two years. It is wonderful and well worth the price of admission. I will always go whenever I am at Disney World. :cool1: :thumbsup2

I was debating this for 2007 trip. DD really wants to see it. DH said no way. So we have decided that DD and mom will go to see La Nouba and DH and DS will stay home or something else. We saw the Video of LA Nouba when my cousin went and she and her DS loved it! Best part of the trip in their opinion.

I am a big fan but have never seen a show live, although I think Ive seen all or most on DVD--I think most are on Netflix. I always want to go while at WDW but DW never seems interested. I think kids would love it as well and I am sure she would. I guess $100 price tag effects this as well. We love the parks so prefer parks over the show?

It is one of the most memorable experiences you will. I was amazed at how great the show was. You wont be disappointed.

Ill tell you why not to go Cirque, outrageous prices! I say stay in the parks...
