Convince me - why should we to to Cirque?

I can't bring myself to pay the huge prices but I will say that two trips ago when we were in the line at SW there was a teenage boy as well as a grandfather and granddaughter who all said it was the favorite part of their trip. I thought that was quite a statement!

It's well worth the money not a bad seat in the house.

It's an entire show the music , the characters ,and the action all rolled up into one. We will be going again maybe this June coming up for a cool off night.

This show has been going on for some time and it has many repeat customers that right there says a lot.

This is my personal experience...

I live in Orlando and have been here since 1995. when Cirque opened La Nouba here in 1998 I said NO WAY, I am not paying that much to sit and see a show. No thanks, I don't care how good everyone says it is. In 2001 a friend of mine got tickets to see it and took me. I thought sure what the heck, it's free, might as well see what all the fuss is about. Well, I left there completely and totally mesmorized. Convinced that it was not humanly possibly to do half of the things that I just saw and wanting MORE. The time flew by and I wanted to see it again right then and there. Since then I have seen (and paid for) La Nouba countless times, Mystere, O, Ka, Zumanity, Dralion and Delirium all once, Alegria twice, Quidam three times and Varekai four times. I have a Cirque room in my house with merchandise that I have bought along the way and recommend the show to everyone I see. As you can see my screen name is CDSTapisRouge which is (Cirque Du Soleil Red Carpet...Tapis Rouge is the name of the VIP area at the touring shows).

Having been in your position I know exactlly what you are contemplating with. I know that it seems like a lot of money, but it is worth every penny and then some. A little advice, don't think you have to go all out and buy the $120 seats. There are no bad seats in the La Nouba theater. You can get great seats in Cat 3 for much less...

So I say go see it, it is awesome!

Convince me, please.

Should we spend the money to see Cirque?

Thanks

It depends on what kind of entertainment you enjoy. For us it was very much over-rated. Perhaps if people wouldn't have gone on and on about it my expectations wouldn't have been so high, but we won't go again. I'm glad I did it once to see but we were disappointed. Also depends how high it is on your list of things to do at Disney. It's definitely personal taste. My only advice would be to take the reviews with a grain of salt and go just expecting a nice evening, not all out fantastically, awesomely, out of this world not to be missed. You also know your budget and how much of a "dent" that would make. I wouldn't sacrifice or work extra to see it.

I have seen two shows in VEgas and enjoyed them. Going to see Cirque on my upcoming trip. :thumbsup2

We have seen two Cirque shows in Las Vegas - "Mystere" and "O." I thought Mystere was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in theater. Music was awesome, show was great. "O" was good but not as great.

If you want something other than Disney stuff, I highly recommend it.

I know some people think 'it's just a circus' when they hear about Cirque. But really, it's so much more. Cirque shows are a feast for the senses. Beautiful music is coupled with spectacular costuming and scenery. The performances are just mind boggling. The husband and I are huge cirque fans. And while we haven't seen the WDW show yet (we are going to in May finally), we have seen many of the traveling shows as well as two of the 4 shows in Vegas ('O' and 'Mystere').

Cirque is definitely worth the money. And when people say there is no real bad seat in the house, they mean it. The shows are choreographed in such a way that all seats get a good view of the action.

You want a reason? How about going because we can't afford to go as a family. I have always wanted to see Cirque. My DW would love it, I know she would but we can't justify spending that much for the 4 of us (DD9 & DS5) to go. This way, you could take all the pictures and/or video and send them to me to enjoy just like I was there, except without the cost! :rotfl:

We really loved La Noumba. It was our first Cirque show and now I have tickets to see my 3rd show. It was DD's favorite thing to see (over the princess tea party which is saying alot for a 5yr old princess freak!) If you view the cirque website clip http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/lanouba/intro/intro.htm and it interests you then go see it. Or maybe rent a dvd of a show to see if it appeals to you. We love it and would go again (plan to again in October) but everyone is different. We bought Tier 2 seats (cheaper) that were wonderful! I would recommend tier 2 seats as some of the show is in the air and I dont want to be looking up all the time.

I haven't been to a Cirque show myself. But my DH's boss has and absolutely loved it! He said the prices were definately worth it.

Btw, if you have the Bravo network on your cable or dish system, they sometimes show it. I know they usually show the past Cirque shows as a marathon on New Year's Eve. I've watched them in the past and, I think about a month or so ago, La Nouba was shown. The shows are definately unique and wonderful!

Cirque is AWESOME!

I haven't seen the one at DTD yet- someday I will. . . .but certainly go if you can. But I have seen it twice when it came to Suffolk Downs up here in Boston. Words cannot describe what it is like. It is absolutely amazing, and the talent of the preformers is unparalleled. :thumbsup2

I took my son a few years ago, and was very skeptical that we would enjoy it. I find most live theater cloying and circuses extremely boring... but this was so magical, I found myself spontaneously saying "thank you!" to the performers as they took their bows.

The live music is a huge bonus, too. Wonderful stuff!

If you just want to be convinced to go, skip this!!!

None of us care for Cirque. There are a few good moments, but we found it to be a giant snoozer. Very artsy. Although, if artsy is your thing, you'll probably love it.

I heard that Blue Man Group (very cool!) is coming to Orlando (Universal). If it is true, that's where I'd go.

I have seen Mystere and La Nouba. Enjoyed them both very much, and as far as Cirque shows go, La Nouba is reasonably priced..they are all quite expensive.

La Nouba, as have all the Cirque shows I have seen...-O- (twice), Mystere, KA, and a touring show here in Chicago this year...is stunning. I have seen La Nouba three times, am sure I will see it again. Nothing like a Cirque show. :thumbsup2

Did you enjoy the Festival of the Lion King, Tarzan Rocks, the waiter in France, acrobats in China, etc. Well, all those feats of skill are ho-hum compared to what you'll see at Cirque. We saw Cirque on the first night of a four night trip, and I remember thinking as we watched other acts throughout wdw that they were nothing compared with what we saw at Cirque. That said, my DD still remembers it as that really LONG show....she liked it but it was long for her (8 at the time).
