Convince Me, People...Should I Get Memory Maker?

a young girl at downtown disney offered to take a photo of our family and broke our camera. it was our second last day so the only photos we have of our last two days are from mm. it wasn't her fault, poor thing, totally a design flaw but were very happy to have those photos of our last two days....

We have done it two years in a row. We go to MNSSHP and love to be able to get all of our pictures with the characters. I know that we could have the CM take them with our camera, but we did that one year and almost ever picture that was taken was not good. I could understand that if I was having them use a complicated camera or something, but it was just a typical point and shoot. After that, I decided it was worth it for us to pay for MM. I am also a scrapbooker so I make sure we get as many photos taken as we can. :)

We are only going to MNSSHP and spending a day (a week later) at AK. I want photos with all of us in them, but I can't decide if the cost is worth it. I am also looking having to pay an additional price for the cruise photo package. But I am glad to know that MNSSHP photos are taken in abundance. This may sway me to purchase the package.

If you are doing a cruise and it's your first one, I would highly recommend it. We always get at least the 10 picture digital package for cruises. Although CMs gladly take pictures when characters are present, on the cruise, the professional photographers are not CMs, and they are not allowed to touch your camera. There are several opportunities to get family portraits with different backdrops and you would not be able to do this with your own camera.

About MM, I'm always on the fence about it since I always carry my camera. Since CMs gladly take a picture, I will always compare and typically the ones with my camera taken by them are as good or even better than theirs. This year Xmas trip I'll probably get it however and leave my DSLR at home.

It is our second cruise, but a 7 night- our first was only 3 nights and the pictures we ended up with were only character ones, none from the dining rooms or anywhere else, so we didn't purchase them. I really like that if we buy the packages it is easier for everyone to be in all of the photos without stressing about the poses. I want to pay for everything up front for the discounts and the lack of hassle in the end, but I will be disappointed if there are not lots of photos in the end. That being said the cost of both photo packages is the cost of a really great port excursion, and I think I would rather have our personally taken photos and an extra experience than the fancy pictures. The MM was the hard one for me to justify with only 2 visits to the park. But it will be first time visits for everyone but me, so I am leaning towards getting the MM and just winging it with the cruise photos.

What is the last day you can pre-purchase it and get the discounted rate?
Leaving tomorrow- am I too late?

You need to pre-purchase it at least 3 days before your trip to have all your pictures included, so yes, you're too late. If you were to purchase it today, your pictures from the 22nd and 23rd would not be included.

I think it is 3 days before the first picture...so if you are crafty with the days you have lined up when you first arrive, you could possibly get the MM at the discount and still manage to get all of your pics if you have a water park or DTD day at the beginning. If not, spend the extra $30 and get it now.

I agree that it all depends on your family dynamic. We sometimes purchased Photopass or whatever that package was. My DD was the one who sorted through it and chose what we kept, etc.

This trip we decided the purchase of MM was a no brainer for us. We have a big family trip planned and want to be able to capture more moments than the ones the designated photographer in the family managed. We also do not want to rely on the kindness of strangers to capture out moments.

You need to decide how many photos you would normally b e inclined to purchase, and if your family would benefit from not needing a designated family photographer.

You don't need to ask a stranger. Every disney photographer is more than willing to take a picture with your camera/phone/Ipad.

I have a memory maker question, if someone is able to help me:
I have pre-purchased memory maker and am going to Disney World with my sister’s family. In my family and friends it shows I am friends with her and her husband & her children but I can’t allow them to see my photo pass pictures because my sister manages their account.(My sister can view and purchase my photo pass pictures) Will that be confusing for the ride pictures if for example my brother in law is on buzz lightyear with my nephew and it’s reading their magic bands, will I not get those pictures? or does my sister have to do something on her end so that it will allow them to be linked to my memory maker? I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right and am minimizing losing pictures to the account before I even get there!

They have to mark each of their accounts as allowing you to see their photos. I actually called Disney and the CM was able to set all of our accounts to view each others photos.

For two days it may not make sense because you could buy a lot of photos for the price of MM.

To make it worth it, you would need to have at least 12 photos from those 2 days you would want to purchase.
