Going to the World in June. Trying to convince dh to do Hoop-de-Doo. Every time I mention it he rolls his eyes. I have two dd's that want to go. Any advice on convincing dh that it is a great show worth the $$$.

I talked my DH into it cause it was all you can eat and all you can drink beer - LOL - plus we priced other dinner shows in Orlando and they are all about the same price.

Can you and the girls just go without him?? Have a girls night out and let dad go to ESPN for some dinner and sports. If not maybe the girls can throw out their best "daddy plllllllllleeeeeease", lol.

My DH wasn't at all sure about it but we talked him into and he loved it the best out of all of us. It's a great night and we'll definitely do it again. Hope he goes along with you cause I think he'll end up enjoying himself.

don't mean to be rude and interupt this thread by asking a question my own about Hoop de doo but I thought this question might coincide anyway...Has anyone or would anyone take a 3 yr. old and a 8month old baby to this show? I've heard that it's hilarious and I think my 3 yr old would enjoy it, but what about the baby? If she starts crying (hopefully not) would that ruin the show for others or is it loud enough to drown her out? Thanks for any info on this! By the way, I would never allow my child or baby to disrupt anyone else's time. Me or my husband would leave with baby/child in that situation, but of course we just won't book it if it's an innappropriate thing to take them to.

dtsaos,

Did it. DS 7months and DD 3.5. They absolutely loved it! There's a lot of singing and dancing, and I think most babies would like that. My son is a rather cranky child, and he didn't cry. It's not too loud either.

Jasminetigger,

As for convincing your husband, you can tell him I am a money tight person (some call that spending challenged) and I wouldn't miss the hoop dee doo. Other PS's don't cost that much less and usually provide much less entertainment. Also, I don't know what kind of eater he is, but it's all you can eat of fried chicken, beans, corn on the cob, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. It's also one of those memories that lasts forever. I have video of my father in final stage production. I don't want to give it away though. All of his grandchildren got to see him.

Tell him to try it once and if he doesn't like it at least you'll have tried it.

I must be the lone person not to have enjoyed the show. Don't get me wrong, there were some humorous spots and such, but overall I never thought that it was worth the hoopla that is made about it. Much prefer the luau.

I didn't really have to convince DH to go, as he left all of the planning to me. He did have a great time, tho. I think he had more fun watching our DD, then 4, than he did watching the show. DD was so into the show that she let out an impromptu "WAAAHOOO." And my DH liked that it was all you could eat and the food was good.

And dtsaos,
My youngest was 15mon when we went, but he was mesmorized by the music and activity. We had the early seating (7:15, I think?) I would definitely recommend that with young children.

Have fun, y'all! Wish I was going soon!!

We enjoyed it and I would do it again, but dh doesn't want to. He thinks it was okay the first time (we all laughed though and had a good time but apparently not good enough to see it again).

Well nothing in Disney is "worth the money" in the big scheme of things. So don't even try to work that angle. $150 for ribs and chicken for a family of four? Can't be justified.

So you just have to tell him that it is a part of Disney that you and the girls HAVE to experience. Chances are he's just rolling his eyes at the hoop-de-doo because sometimes men just need to roll their eyes.

We've been to the World and haven't past up one Hoop dee doo per visit. Same show in over 30 years but its the best. Corny, fun for everyone. Food, better than you can buy at fast food or make at home, strawbeery shortcake thats the best and all the beer, sangeria and pop you can hold. Get him there once and he'll make it his favorite place in the world. We also go over to Crocketts tavern for some of the best pizza and beer pitchers ever. First night stop to unwind and get in the spirit of vacation land and We're over 50.

I couldn't agree with you more Pepe. I'm really going to miss it on my next trip. We're taking our 2 year old daughter in April, and we just think that dinner show will be too long for her to sit in one place. But we'll catch it next time for sure!
